Tell ’em how you really feel.

It’s no secret that Cross Canadian Ragweed‘s frontman, Cody Canada, has a love for herbal medicines of sorts. I mean, the band does have a whole song dedicated to how “them boys from Oklahoma roll their joints all wrong.” But Cody Canada is not your average stoner; he’s found a way to turn it into a business venture, launching The Boys From Oklahoma Rolling Co. in 2019, selling bud grown locally out of Yukon, Oklahoma.

“New ventures in 2019!! Keep an eye out for Boys From Oklahoma pre-rolled joints in your favorite dispensaries across Oklahoma. Grown locally in Yukon, Oklahoma.”

Canada has also spoken extensively about the benefits of weed, sharing earlier this year on the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast that he’s always found the herb helps with his anxiety.

“I never did it… really for… I mean, there are nights that you do it for the party. But it was always for anxiety and pain for me, whether it was a back issue or a headache or whatever. But when it comes to a hangover, a nice hybrid (strain) and an ice-cold Coca-Cola in a bottle.”

Similar to how Willie Nelson and many other artists utilize marijuana, it’s not to get messed up. It’s to unwind, relax, and slow their thoughts. As an avid pothead, Willie Nelson attributes the herb to saving his life. In a 2019 interview with Rolling Stone, he claimed it saved his life.

“I wouldn’t be alive. It saved my life, really. I wouldn’t have lived 85 years if I’d have kept drinking and smoking like I was when I was 30, 40 years old… I think that weed kept me from wanting to kill people. And probably kept a lot of people from wanting to kill me, too – out there drunk, running around.”

Or, as Parker McCollum recently shared, he says he’s written some of his best songs after a hit or two.

“Some of the best songs that I’ve ever written in my career, I wrote just after you know, just after taking a little hit, and just kind of letting it go. It sparked…some of the greatest records of all time are written stoned.”

In short, a lot of people find many benefits from using weed.

However, many states do not support the use of weed, including the Lone Star State. Last year, Texas voters said “yes” to three propositions asking voters to pass cannabis decriminalization measures included in the Texas ballot: Dallas, Lockhart, and Bastrop.

While the passing of those propositions was a step in the right direction for Texas to legalize the use of marijuana fully, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is trying his hardest to reverse this decision and make THC and the THC-adjacent products illegal. He is pushing to ban the sale of all products.

Senate Bill 3 was passed by the Senate recently after getting approval from the House. The legislation would ban all cannabinoids in consumable hemp products except non-intoxicating CBD and CBG.

After the news of this bill, Cody Canada had some choice words for Patrick during a recent show at The Armadillo Palace in Houston, Texas. To kick off “Boys From Oklahoma,” he said the following to Patrick:

“I’d like to send this song out to the Lieutenant Governor of f***** Texas. F*** that guy!”

It appears that the video is clipped together. After singing a verse or two, Canada didn’t get all his thoughts out and had more to say to the Lieutenant Governor.

“Why don’t you get your s*** together, Texas, Dan Patrick, and legalize that f***** weed.”

Amen to that.
