Coach Ed Orgeron Puts The Fear Of God In A Man Who Interrupts His Run To Yell “Roll Tide”
Don’t you dare shout “Roll Tide” in front of Coach O. Ed Orgeron, better known as “Coach O,” has clearly been enjoying his post-coaching life. With his successful college football background, he could go back to coaching really anytime he wants to. Don’t you dare shout “Roll Tide” in front of Coach O.
Ed Orgeron, better known as “Coach O,” has clearly been enjoying his post-coaching life. With his successful college football background, he could go back to coaching really anytime he wants to. However, he seems to be really enjoying his time off (guess you could call it retirement), which is being funded by that last severance check that he hilariously and happily accepted from LSU.
If you somehow missed that part of Coach O’s story, here’s the video that went viral when he and the SEC powerhouse parted ways:
Hard to believe that Coach O and LSU separated back in October of 2021. Seems like it was just yesterday that the swamp monster known as Ed Orgeron was stomping up and down the Louisiana State University sidelines and exclaiming “Geaux Tigers!” in his patented (and unprecedented) bayou accent.
The good news is that Coach O isn’t completely off the map. He still occasionally pops up in videos online, which usually revolve around someone spotting the 63-year-old as he’s jogging around town shirtless. I know that might sound weird to say… but that’s basically the only proof of life I’ve seen when it comes to Ed Orgeron since he left LSU.
Here’s an example from 2022 in case you don’t believe me:
The latest entrant into the “Coach O Running” series has actually gone a bit viral, and for good reason. It appears that an Alabama Crimson Tide fan saw the former LSU coach running around Miami, and he decided to give him a little verbal jab. Let’s just say it did not go over as well as the Bama fan would have hoped.
In the video, the man calls out to Coach O, who then kindly comes over for what he thinks is a little selfie with a fan. That’s when the guy pulled one over on Orgeron and shouted “Roll Tide,” and boy did that light a fire underneath Coach O. He immediately switched from “Sure, I’ll take a selfie” mode to his “I’ve got to teach this man a lesson” setting.
And it was glorious to watch:
@ogroby Throwback to running into Ed Ogeron…safe to say he still hates Alabama #rolltide #football #sports #ESPN @House of Highlights ♬ original sound – ogroby
Imagine Coach O getting up in your face and giving you a very stern talking to about respect.
Frankly, the interaction was a tad bit intense and intimidating, but I still think the former college football coach handled it with a lot of class. Asking the guy if he’d say “Go Tigers” in front of Nick Saban was a good empathy walk through, and then Ed deescalating the situation by asking where the guy was from showcased incredible control and communication skills.
And you best believe that guy won’t be yelling “Roll Tide!” to non-Alabama fans anytime soon. Shoutout to Coach O for putting this Alabama troll in his place… and the fear of God in him. Is there a more intimidating 60-year-old man on planet Earth? I don’t think so…
At least Lane Kiffin thought it was funny…
