Devastating.

Funeral services were held this past weekend for Emma Biffle, the 14-year old daughter of retired NASCAR driver Greg Biffle.

Greg and Emma were two of the seven people killed on December 18, 2025 when their plane crashed shortly after taking off from Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina.

According to flight tracking data, the private Cessna Citation II took off at around 10:06 AM eastern time, but just minutes later made a turn back towards the airport after the pilot reported an unspecified problem. The plane crashed while attempting to land on the same runway they had taken off from.

So far, no cause has been determined for the crash, with the NTSB investigating and expected to release a preliminary report within 30 days. The final report, with their findings and recommendations, will take between 12-18 months.

Along with Greg Biffle, the victims included his wife, Cristina Grossu; their 5-year old son Ryder; his 14-year old daughter from a previous marriage, Emma; Dennis Dutton and his son, Jack; and Craig Wadsworth. At this point it hasn’t been announced who was flying the plane, as three passengers onboard (including Biffle) were licensed pilots.

A public memorial service for the victims of the plane crash has been scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2026 at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. But over the weekend, a private service was held for Emma Biffle, where her mother Nicole Lunders Biffle shared a heartbreaking letter that she wrote for her daughter.

In a letter that Nicole couldn’t read herself because of the pain of losing her daughter, she admitted that she agonized over the decision of whether to let Emma get on the plane that day, because she knew her daughter wasn’t feeling well. And she also revealed that the day before the crash, she had bought Emma tickets to Italy as a Christmas present.

I can’t even imagine…

Also this week, Biffle’s former NASCAR Cup Series team, RFK Racing, announced a new exhibit at their race shop to honor their former driver.

Biffle drove for what was then known as Roush Racing (and later, Roush Fenway Racing) for nearly his entire Cup Series career, jumping into the #16 car full time in 2003 until his retirement in 2016. Over that time, he won 19 races for the team, with a career-high second place finish in the 2005 points standings. Biffle also won a championship in what was then known as the NASCAR Busch Series (now the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts series) for Roush in 2002, the year before he made the leap to drive in the Cup Series, as well as a Truck Series championship with the team in 2000.

On Monday, the team unveiled their new tribute to The Biff, which includes memorabilia from his time with the team and his #16 car that he drove to victory lane at Michigan in June 2013, the 1000th NASCAR win for Ford.

The tributes have, of course, been pouring in for Biffle since the crash, with many remembering his heroic disaster relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene hitting North Carolina in 2004.

But the loss may hit hardest for Nicole, who lost not only her ex-husband but also her daughter, and is left to carry on without them.

Just a truly heartbreaking tragedy. The post Greg Biffle’s Ex-Wife Makes Heartbreaking Admission During Funeral For Their Daughter first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
