Giving in to peer pressure.
It appears this was the confidence boost that Marcus King’s wife, Briley, needed from country music fans to get into the studio. Bullying works, y’all! Okay, just kidding… but this is the perfect example of positive peer pressure, and I hope that this isn’t a bit and we get some music from Mrs. King.
Over the last week, the internet has been buzzing over Briley King’s cover of “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia.” Some of you readers might be familiar with Briley King for her fashion-forward social media presence, her making fun of internet trolls calling her a gold digger, or you might be familiar with her vocal ability as well.
It only makes sense that two incredibly talented people end up together. Just like Chris and Morgane Stapleton, Marcus and Briley King are a musical powerhouse duo.
Given that the musical space is where Marcus shines, Briley lets him have that spotlight, but she, too, is quite the songbird. In fact, Briley has supported Marcus in the studio, providing backup vocals for songs like “Delilah.” And if you’re a true fan of Marcus King, then you’ve probably seen the magic these two create on stage together. Briley joins Marcus on stage quite a bit these days, and it is incredible. From covering “Joy Of My Life” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” to providing backup vocals on Marcus’ hit “Goodbye Carolina,” and, of course, performing “Delilah,” Briley has proved her vocals are a force to be reckoned with.
Backstage during the Marcus King Band Family Reunion, Briley had some fun with the Marcus King Band and delivered a stellar unplugged version of the tune, showcasing her natural talent by laying down a stellar cover of Vicki Lawrence’s “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia.”
Side note: Yes, Reba made this song a staple in her catalog in 1991; however, the tune was initially recorded by Vicki Lawrence in 1973.
Briley shared the clip across her social media platforms, and it’s currently going viral on TikTok with fans BEGGING her to record her own cover of the tune.

On this user’s video specifically, Briley King commented, confessing that she was scared to do so:
“I’m scaredddd”
However, it appears that Briley King is giving in to the cries from fans and has shared a clip of her walking down cheetah print stairs up to a studio microphone as part of her “What Would You Wear to…” series on TikTok. In the video, she’s sporting one of her signature feathered trucker hats from her brand, Little Bird Trucking, and has the cover of “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia” playing in the background. She captioned the video:
“Say less.”
Implying that IT’S HAPPENING.

She also shared on Instagram, on a since-expired story, that she was in a recording booth, tagging Nashville’s Easy Eye Studio. I hope we get some solo music from Briley King in the near future; she has the grit and vocals to make one hell of an artist.
I hope she isn’t pulling our legs, and a project or single is revealed in the future. The post Briley King Hears Fans & Hints She’s In the Studio After Cover Of “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia” Went Viral first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
