Big Ol’ Bear In Connecticut Makes Itself At Home In Backyard Playground Set

This bear isn’t waiting any longer to slide into summer.
Most of the time here at Whiskey Riff, we only write about bears if they are killing something, or trying to kill something. Thus, this is a nice change of pace for our expansive catalogue of bear stories. Typically, bears are worried about survival, or asserting their dominance. The only thing that this bear in Connecticut was worried about? Having the time of its life. When this black bear discovered this playground set, its life was changed forever.
Something tells me that this bear – and the other bear that was with it – have traversed this very playground set many times before. There was a sense of comfortability to the bear’s behavior, and the family watching from the safety of their own home just so happened to be there to witness the playtime this time around.
As you’ll see in the clip below, one bear was laying on its side at the base of the bad-to-the-bone play set (it featured swings, a rock wall, a slide and a rope climbing station). The other was busy helping itself to the ladder that led up to the platform of the playground. The wild animal had no problem at all scaling up the steps that are meant to be used by kiddos.
And as the old saying goes, what goes up, must come down. There were only a couple of different options for the black bear to choose from when it came to its descent. It could go back the way it came up, try out the other side that’s equipped with a rock wall, or the most fun option of them all: The slide. What happens next is why I’m almost positive these bears frequent this playground.
The family – along with what sounds like a little girl named Zuzu – watched from the window as the big bear sized up the slide. A gasp from the mother was followed by this question from the father:
“Is he gonna go down the slide? Oh my gosh… there he goes.”
Sure enough, the black bear went sliding down the slick green slide paws first, and came crashing down at the bottom, much to the entertainment of the little girl that was watching. Imagine being a kid and seeing a wild animal use the very play set that you do. Kids with the wildest imaginations might not even think of that as a possibility, yet here the bear was utilizing the slide presumably just so it could have some fun.
You can check out the instant-mood-boosting clip below:
Hey… the play ground rules never said anything about, “No bears allowed.”
I’m always a big fan of videos where wild animals show a little bit of their personality. Clearly this bear has a yearning for adventure, and I personally hope that it is always able to find a slide to go down anytime it wants to. Those that came across the clip on social media enjoyed it too, and left some of these comments underneath the post:
“Bears just wanna have fun!”
“That is not that bear’s first trip down a slide.”
“Not exactly a 10 for the landing.”
“Even the bears are smarter in Connecticut.”
“No audio from the bear but I assume he yelled, ‘Weeeee.'”The post Big Ol’ Bear In Connecticut Makes Itself At Home In Backyard Playground Set first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
