Bass and Brie: A "Cheese Rave" Is Going Down in New York City

Because sweet dreams are made of cheese, Eventbrite has announced what the company is calling the first-ever "Cheese Rave," a melty collision of artisanal tasting and electronic dance music.

Television personality Antoni Porowski, the food and wine expert on Netflix's Queer Eye series, has lent his culinary credibility. He's serving as tastemaker for the free event, which embodies what Eventbrite is calling "nichecore," the fusion of seemingly disconnected passions into one gooey, pulsating experience.

The company is tapping into a cultural crave wave here. Eventbrite's recent "Fourth Spaces" study revealed that 95% of 18-to-35-year-olds are increasingly craving experiences that bring their online interests into real life. Their research also indicated that 79% seek out events that blend disparate interests into unique social experiences.

"Cheese and electronic music might seem like an odd pairing—and it is! But they both inspire passion and sensory joy," Porowski said in a statement.

The "Cheese Rave" concept is a compelling cultural hybrid, a fondue melting pot neither wholly foodie fantasy nor purely club kid paradise. After walking through a "massive cheese installation" welcoming guests inside, they'll begin with a curated tasting experience from Metro Cheese Club, who will keep the spread full from the moment the DJs start playing at 8:30pm until the 1am close. Attendees can enjoy two complimentary beverages from a drink menu selected to pair with the cheese, and vegan options and gluten-free crackers will also be available.

The event marks just the beginning of Eventbrite's series of boundary-blurring experiences designed to cater to our increasingly fragmented interests. They've now launched "It-Lists," curated recommendations from cultural tastemakers, including Porowski, that help locals discover events matching their interests.

"What makes these mashup events special is that they create spaces where different vibes and interests blend naturally," Porowski added. "You'll meet others who get what you're into, even if what you're into doesn't fit into just one box; because at the end of the day, it's about connection."

The "Cheese Rave" is scheduled for April 17th in Bushwick. Tickets are exclusively available on Eventbrite.
