Week 2 is wrapping up, and it’s already been a wild start to the 2025 season. Alabama started the season with a loss to Florida State last week, Clemson almost lost to Troy earlier today, Ohio took down WVU, and Florida suffered maybe the worst loss of the young season when they fell to USF on a last second field goal this afternoon that has Gator fans calling for coach Billy Napier’s head.
Nothing like it.
Today also marked the return of the Border War, the once-annual game between Kansas and Missouri that hasn’t been played since Missouri left the Big 12 for the SEC back in 2012.
And though this year’s freshmen were only 5 years old the last time the game was played, it seems like students still understood just how much the rivalry meant to both schools.
During one of the timeouts, Mizzou brought a fan onto the field for one of those competitions where the kid has to kick a field goal to win a prize – in this case, $25,000 was on the line.
But this guy either knew there was no chance he was making the field goal, or he wanted to cement his legacy as a Mizzou legend. So instead of kicking the field goal, the guy pulled up his shirt to reveal “F KU” painted on his chest, and proceeded to turn and kick the ball directly at the Kansas sideline.
Oh, and to make it even better? The guy is an amputee.

I mean, he saved the school $25k and thrilled the crowd in the process, so I’d say it was worth it.
Mizzou went on to win the game against Kansas 42-31, and chances are this guy will never have to pay for beer in Columbia again.
Syracuse Coach Disgusted By Win Over UConn
A win wasn’t good enough.
Syracuse football finished the 2024 season ranked #22 in the nation under first-year head coach Fran Brown, a stark turnaround after an abysmal 2023 season that saw former coach Dino Babers let go before the season was over.
The Orange finished 4th in the ACC and ended the season with a strong 52-35 win over Washington State in the Holiday Bowl, and despite the loss of key players like QB Kyle McCord and RB LeQuint Allen to the NFL draft, you gotta think Syracuse still had high hopes coming into the 2025 season.
But things got off to a rocky start last week thanks to a season-opening matchup against the #24 ranked Tennessee Volunteers. Syracuse actually didn’t look terrible in the game, but the Vols high-powered offense led by transfer QB Joey Aguilar easily took down the Orange for a 45-26 loss at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta to start the season.
Luckily for Syracuse, they were back in the Carrier Dome (or the JMA Wireless Dome as it’s known now) this weekend for their home opener, a rivalry game against the UConn Huskies.
UConn came into the game undefeated, although their win came against Central Connecticut, which I didn’t even realize was a team until…well, just now.
And the Huskies gave Brown’s squad all they could handle, taking Syracuse to overtime before a six-yard touchdown pass from QB Steve Angeli to Justus Ross-Simmons sealed the deal and gave ‘Cuse the OT win.
But apparently Fran Brown wasn’t happy with his squad’s performance, despite the win, because after the game the coach had his entire Syracuse team running sprints on the field.
If you’re a Syracuse fan, you probably love to see it. A coach who isn’t happy with “just” winning the game.
And it looks like a lot of people online supported the move from Brown, especially now that college football players are paid big money to perform on Saturdays:
“Hahaha this is great to see and much needed after that abysmal performance. Lucky to have won”
“Best thing I saw here today. A man who makes his team take accountability for their poor play and attitude. They fought till the end and took the win…I’ll take 10 more of those.”
“Good move. They got outplayed for 55 minutes, but UConn inexplicably choosing to throw a bunch of incompletions in the 4th up 11, instead of simply run the ball, let them hang around way too long.”
“Well done Coach Brown.”
Of course, there were quite a few people who thought Brown himself should be running with his team, but I’ll be honest, I didn’t watch the game so I have no idea how the coaching was.
Either way, it seems like Brown isn’t happy with his team right now, and after the success he had last season, a loss and a 7-point win over UConn probably wasn’t what he’s expecting from Syracuse football to open the 2025 season. The post A Mizzou Fan With A Chance To Kick A Field Goal For $25K Decided To Kick The Ball At The Kansas Sideline Instead first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
