Ever heard of a “boarglary?” I hadn’t either until the Lee County Sheriff’s Office coined it.

Wild boars are as problematic as they come. These animals are an issue in basically every environment they call home. They are only native to Asia, parts of North America, and Europe… yet they live on every continent with the exception of Antarctica. And everywhere they live… trouble ensues.

You might be wondering… what’s the big deal about some wild hogs running amuck? The answer to that question has multiple levels. For one, they don’t really have a natural predator. So they just keep reproducing (and they multiply fast), and then have the strength in numbers to wreak havoc.

That typically comes in the form of crop destruction. A pack of boars can easily decimate crops, thus reducing the yield of the crops and affecting the food supply. Not only that, but they can spread disease to livestock, and since they are omnivores, they have even been known to kill young calves and lambs.

They’re bad news all around, and that’s especially true when it comes to their relationship and frequent run-ins with human beings.

These animals – which can weigh anywhere between 70 and 250 pounds – seemingly love to cause property damage. Sometimes that means tearing up someone’s yard, while other times it looks like a wild boar running into (or out in front of) a vehicle. In this wild story out of Florida, a wild boar ran right through someone’s back porch door and got loose in their home.

The police officer from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (located near Fort Myers) estimated that the boar was around 300-pounds as it stood in the living room of the Florida home and the body camera captured it all in real time. Eventually, the officers got to luring the wild animal out of the house… and that was easier said than done.

It appears that the officer attempted to get the wild boar to go back out the way it came in. Obviously, when it came in, the glass sliding door slowed it down a bit. Now, all of the glass was scattered on the ground, and the door had a become a wide-open gateway to the elements. The deputy walked out that very door and soon got charged not once, but twice, by the out-of-control boar.

The animal even clipped him at one point, and may have gotten the other officer a couple of times too while the authorities were attempting to rope and tie the animal. Instead, it looks like they were able to encourage the animal to return to a nearby wooded area… so I guess it’ll live to see another day (and break through another door)?

I simply have to include the caption of Lee County Sheriff’s Office’s post because it was beautifully riddled with boar, hog, and pig related puns:

“This Lehigh Acres animal had a boar-derline criminal interaction with our deputies! Yesterday, we responded to a not-so-typical burglary on 3rd Street E.

Deputies learned the “suspect” went hog-wild, busting through a sliding glass door.We were able to remove the boar from the home, sending him snout and about where he belongs – the woods!”

Wild boar is right… that thing was out of control and possibly out for blood. The post 300-Pound Wild Boar Attacks Police Officer After Ramming Through Glass Door Of Florida Home first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
