Unhinged Swifties Are Concerned That Chiefs Kicker, Harrison Butker, Could Be Made A Groomsman At Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s Wedding

The Swifties celebrated Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement accordingly… and now there are transitioning back to outrage.

In case you missed the news – and I’m really not sure how you could’ve considering it’s been everywhere online – Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and global music superstar Taylor Swift officially announced their engagement today. The post effectively broke the internet, and the announcement has garnered just shy of 30 million likes on Instagram… and it’s only been up for 24 hours or so:

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Truly a storybook, couldn’t-be-more-romantic ending to the will-they-won’t-they engagement headlines.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift first started dating in the summer of 2023, and it all began when Travis attended her Eras Tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium and tried to give her a patented Swifties friendship bracelet. The football player’s attempt to meet with Swift backstage to give her the bracelet, which had his phone number on it, was unsuccessful.

But things really took off when Kelce discussed it on the New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason. Following that clip going viral, the two high-profile individuals made contact, the “Love Story” singer attended a plethora of Kansas City Chiefs games (much to the chagrin of NFL fans) and the rest, as they say, is history.

Taylor Swift’s fiery fanbase, known as the Swifties, have been over the moon about their favorite person finally finding love. However, as they’ve jumped ahead to wedding planning (for someone that they don’t actually know), they’ve already pinpointed a potential guest on the guest list that wouldn’t fly with them.

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, who by all accounts, including from Travis himself, is a great teammate, devout Christian, and dedicated family man.

Just as a quick recap, some were quick to call the NFL kicker “misogynistic” after clips pulled from his commencement speech Benedictine College back in May of 2024 (like this one below) started to spread all across social media. Butker obviously didn’t have any ill-intent with what he said, as he was speaking to a group of devout Catholics, at a very Catholic school, about their own Catholic beliefs.

But videos like these hit the internet and a firestorm of criticism came with it:

And because Butker and Kelce have been teammates, and won a couple of Super Bowls together, there’s a fair chance that the kicker does get an invitation. Who knows how big the celebrity couple’s wedding will be, but it’s safe to assume that everyone who is anyone will be there.

Because of that, and the possibility that Harrison Butker could attend, or even be asked to be a groomsman, Swifties are losing their collective minds:
