Thought you were done reading about Tom Brady coming back to the game of football, did ya?
It’s almost as if Tom yearns to stay in the news cycle, and floats out rumors about ending his retirement every so often. Just imagine a now 47-year-old Tom Brady saying that he’s got some more football left in him. Crazy to think about, right? But with as much as the seven-time Super Bowl winner continues to leave the door open, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. There were even rumors not too long ago that Brady is in the best shape of his life.
As they say, age is just a number.
But I can’t be alone in growing weary of the “will-he-won’t-he” nature of his retirement. This man simply can’t decide if he wants to be done with football or not. It’s certainly seemed as of late, with the whole lucrative NFL broadcasting deal and what-not, that he’s slowly-but-surely settled into his post football career. But hey… the NFL’s GOAT has already retired, un-retired, and then retired again, so ol’ Tommy Touchdown isn’t a stranger to flip-flopping.
Now earlier, I said imagine a 47-year-old Tom playing football again. There’s a chance you scoffed at that number… so what if I pushed it to 50-years-old? Interestingly enough, that’s how old he would be when he’d aim to make his next comeback to the game of football… flag football to be exact.
That’s right. There’s are rumors and speculation that ol’ Tom Brady is eyeing an un-retirement plan just in time for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, California. A source told the Daily Mail that the former NFL quarterback could gear up at the age of 50 to try and lead Team USA’s flag football squad.
Brady wants the one thing he was never able to get in his playing career… a gold medal. That’s at least how the source told the story:
“He wants a Gold medal. And what better way to remain the GOAT and return to the sport he loves, by helping his country win gold. With the Olympics being in LA, he wouldn’t have to travel far. And it would culminate in one of the best birthdays ever.”
That last part is referencing the fact that Tom Brady would turn 51 in August of 2028.
Obviously, this is just a random, anonymous source talking, so who knows if Tom truly wants to test Father Time once more. That being said, the source went on to add that the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback feels as though he could truly help the U.S.A. team win gold, and that he’d be ready for the schedule because his life is still very much regimented even as his “playing days” have passed him by.
But that’s the beautiful thing about Tom Brady. He’s never been ready to hang it up, and if flag football offered up an avenue for him to return, maybe its the open door he’s been looking for. My only concern is that I believe it helps to have a mobile quarterback when it comes to playing QB in flag football, and Tom Brady was cement-footed even during his prime.
I can only imagine how he’d look at the age of 50…The post Tom Brady Reportedly Wants To “Un-Retire” & Play Flag Football For Team USA In The Olympics first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
