Duck Dynasty and country music together just makes sense.

And with Duck Dynasty’s latest entrant into the TV world – Duck Dynasty: The Revival – it’s become somewhat of a theme since Willie and Korie Robertson’s son, Will Jr., has grown older and become interested in making music. Will is actually the adopted son of Willie and Korie Robertson, but they chose to name him Will Jr. just to reinforce that he is one of their own.

There was even a country music star cameo in the latest episode of the sequel series.

In case you are lost or a bit confused, the original Duck Dynasty series aired on A&E from 2012 to 2017. It quite literally took the nation by storm, and the wholesome, family storyline of the show made it one of the most watched reality television series during the 2010s. After taking an almost decade-long break, the Robertson family returned to the spotlight with the sequel series – Duck Dynasty: The Revival – which aired its first episode back in June of the this year. Unfortunately, the show goes on without the patriarch of the family, Phil Robertson, who passed away in May at the age of 79.

Though the show is definitely different without the wise teachings of the “Duck Commander,” it still has much of the same charm that the original run in the 2010s did… and it’s arguably got even more star power. That was made evident in the latest episode, where Willie Robertson called in a favor with a friend of his that just so happens to be a well-established country music singer and songwriter.

Luke Bryan, to be exact. Luke is actually a partner at Buck Commander, the hunting extension of Duck Commander that the Robertson family is known for. But Willie Robertson traveled with his son to Nashville to meet with Bryan, and to discuss songwriting and a potential music career.  Luke Bryan asked Will if he was going to start messing with songwriting, and the younger Robertson sitting at the table responded with:

“I am. It’s perfect that we’re here, just because you’ve written… a few songs.”

I guess you could say Luke Bryan has penned a couple of number one hits.

The “That’s My Kinda Night” singer immediately went into mentor mode, and gave this piece of advice to the young man sitting across the table from him that was thinking about getting into songwriting:

“My advice for songwriting is just… I’ve always said just get out there and live.”

Pretty wise advice coming from the guy whose writing credits include “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” and “This Is How We Roll.”

Bryan went on to say that he recommends finding one particular place that can be dedicated to “doing the work,” and inclined that having a place out in the country (A.K.A. moving back to where Will’s parents live in Louisiana rather than where he lives in Dallas) could be beneficial in the writing process:

“I think you just gotta find a place that’s your place to kind of do your work. You wanna develop somewhere that you’ve kind of got a little connection to. I don’t know what your home situation is, whether you’re out in the country or here in an apartment somewhere. Pick a room in there where you can (write).”

All in all (and regardless of what you think about Luke Bryan), it was cool to see the soon-to-be 49-year-old country music star provide some assistance and insight into songwriting. It certainly didn’t feel like Bryan was trying to push Will into either pursuing or not pursuing music further. Rather, he just shared what works for him… while also giving a little push for Will to move back to where the rest of his family lives in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Gotta think Willie Robertson told Luke Bryan to sneak that in there…The post There Was A Country Music Star Cameo On The Latest Episode Of ‘Duck Dynasty: The Revival’ first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
