“He’s Not Safe”: Landman Season 2 Finale Trailer Leaves Tommy Norris’ Future Hanging By A Thread

Things are heating up during the Landman season finale.

Season 2 of Landman is coming to a head this weekend as fans prepare for the finale. While this season of the hit Taylor Sheridan oil show has gotten mixed reviews due to its slower pace and plotlines that heavily follow Ainsley and Angela Norris.

It’s no secret that several Landman fans can’t stand Angela and Ainsley, the mother-daughter duo starring opposite Billy Bob Thornton’s lead character, Tommy Norris. However, while I might be in the minority, I have found Ainsley’s character to grow on me, and the same with Angela. As women, we can all picture a mother/daughter duo who carry the same “thick as thieves” energy, and at the end of the day, Angela (though she can be annoying at times) is really looking out for her naive daughter.

As for the drama in the oil fields, we are seeing romance blossom between Rebecca Falcone and Charlie Newsom, a geologist leading the offshore drilling expedition for M-Tex Oil. Although the two got into a tiff after Charlie sold the risky operation with a very low success rate, they have since made amends, and all are going to Louisiana for an extravagant rig launch party.

However, things for Tommy Norris did not go as planned during the party.

For anyone who has yet to watch the latest Landman episode and does not want anything spoiled, proceed with caution. Alright, now that I’ve got that warning out of the way, back to it!

Although Tommy has been guiding Cami Miller to make the best decisions for MTex Oil, Cami has not seen Tommy’s guidance as such and feels like he is no longer willing to take risks that could lead to a reward. In Tommy’s defense, he’s seen the effects of wildcatting all the time, which led to his boss and dear friend Monty Miller’s death.

But Cami does not see that her husband’s stress, which eventually led to him taking his final breath, was a bad thing, and saw it as the drive that kept him making big risk decisions, which luckily paid off. Things came to a head at the rig launch, and Cami fired Tommy Norris.

While it was shocking to me to see Cami fire the man who kept her husband’s company afloat and was truly Monty’s right-hand man, the constant butting of heads gave the indication that Cami was ready to make a change. However, now M-Tex Oil is at the mercy of this offshore rig to be successful, or else Cami will lose M-Tex to the investor (and cartel boss) Gallino, who operates under the legitimate-sounding alias Danny Morrell.

After Cami made her choice to let Tommy go, I know I’m on the edge of my seat to see what happens with the company. And according to the Season 2 Episode 10 trailer, which is the season finale, it looks like Tommy goes to Gallino for a job or a favor to ensure M-Tex Oil does not go belly up, or to protect and look out for Cami like Monty would have wanted. Or perhaps he is partnering with Gallino on Cooper Norris’ rigs… the possibilities here are endless.

But the choice to work with Gallino comes with a significant risk.

In the trailer, viewers hear Gallino tell Tommy that if he loses “this,” the thing Tommy loves the most, it is the first thing Gallino will take. This statement leaves viewers with many questions. What is Gallino giving Tommy Norris? What is Gallino going to take? Angela? Ainsley? Cooper?

I’m not sure what Taylor Sheridan is cooking up for this season finale, but it looks tense. I sure hope Cami realizes what danger she is putting her company and lifestyle in by letting Tommy Norris go… but that might be a lesson she has to learn the hard way. Or Tommy will find a way to fix it, as he always does.

Sunday can’t come soon enough.
