Doesn’t want any part of it.
Obviously one of the big priorities for President Donald Trump in his second term has been securing the border and cracking down on illegal immigration. The president acted immediately to close the border with Mexico to keep illegal immigrants from entering the United States, and has aggressively deployed the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to remove illegal immigrants who are already in our country.
Naturally, this has upset quite a few people on the left. While Trump and border czar Tom Homan have said the focus is on getting illegal immigrants with criminal records, they’ve also declared that anyone in the country illegally is subject to deportation, leading to a lot of hysteria and accusations of racism from Democrats (along with quite a few ACTUALLY racist “but who’s going to pick our crops?” comments too).
But the Trump administration has stood firm, and it doesn’t seem like they plan on slowing down their immigration enforcement any time soon.
In fact, the Department of Homeland Security often highlights their deportation efforts on social media with videos showing immigrants getting deported. But their latest video is drawing fire from one of Trump’s own supporters.
Comedian and podcaster Theo Von supported the president during the 2024 election, even having Trump on a (hilarious) episode of his This Past Weekend podcast. Theo also attended Trump’s inauguration, and a few months ago he joined the president on a surprise trip to Qatar to meet with troops.
But Theo wasn’t a fan of the Department of Homeland Security using a clip of him in their latest deportation video.
The video, posted yesterday by DHS, starts with a viral video of Theo that he recorded for somebody’s friend who got deported:
“Heard you got deported. Bye.”
It then goes on to tout the administration’s deportation numbers, including 2 million people deported in 250 days. But Theo wants no part of it.
Taking to social media, the comedian asked DHS to “send a check” and take the video down, saying that his thoughts on immigration are “more nuanced” than the video would imply:
“Yooo DHS i didnt approve to be used in this. I know you know my address so send a check. And please take this down and please keep me out of your ‘banger’ deportation videos. When it comes to immigration my thoughts and heart are alot more nuanced than this video allows. Bye!”
Theo has shown an interest in immigration policy in the past, even having former Border Patrol chief Chris Clem on his podcast last year to talk about the problems with the border and illegal immigration.
Trump has credited his son, Barron Trump, with introducing him to the popular podcaster:
“In fact my son Barron said, ‘Dad, you gotta do an interview with’ somebody I hadn’t heard of. But my son knew very well, he knows everyone. He said, ‘Dad,’ this is before the election, you know we won in a landslide, in case you hadn’t known.
But he said, ‘Dad, you gotta do an interview with a guy named Theo Von.’ I said, ‘Who the hell is Theo Von?’ He said, ‘Dad he’s such a big guy, you gotta do an interview.’ So he knew all the names, I didn’t know the names.”
Might need Barron to get involved here to smooth things over between Theo and the Trump administration. The post Theo Von Calls Out Department Of Homeland Security For Using A Clip Of Him In Video Promoting Deportations first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
