The Internet Is Obsessed With This Whistling Man’s Wicked Rendition Of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Entire “Free Bird” Solo

Get this man on America’s Got Talent. Earlier this year, I was in awe when I stumbled across a young man’s TikTok page, where he turned classic songs into medieval heaters on his lute. The man takes songs and puts them on a metric to see if they would “go hard at the local pub.” Naturally, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” went very hard at the local pub, with the epic guitar solo translating perfectly onto the lute. @danontheguitar Replying to […] The post The Internet Is Obsessed With This Whistling Man’s Wicked Rendition Of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Entire “Free Bird” Solo first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Naturally, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” went very hard at the local pub, with the epic guitar solo translating perfectly onto the lute.

When I discovered this viral video, I felt like this belonged in a Shrek movie. Imagine a bar fight between Donkey and Shrek as they open a can of whoop a** on their enemy. It would be legendary.

Now the internet has discovered the perfect counterpart to the lute-picking machine, and honestly, this version sounds like it belongs in Snow White if they had a scene requiring her to fight crimes with the help of her animal posse. Or instead of singing Snow White the sweet song filled with bird whistles, they could use “Free Bird” to lift her spirits.

Let me introduce you to Ralph Whistler, aka the World’s Greatest Whistler.

Ralph has quite the following on TikTok and Instagram, sharing his love for music with his followers through his covers of the songs…whistling. Ralph takes rock and country classics and whistles the tune, but it’s not the leisurely whistling that I’m sure many of you are picturing at this moment.

This man goes hard. He moves his mouth in a way that allows his whistles to hit every note, and the way his mouth moves also makes it sound like he’s singing the lyrics. Ralph delivered the entire guitar solo of “Free Bird” with his viewers, and it’s sick.

From someone who can’t whistle, thinking about whistling for four minutes straight with such an intricate note variation is mind-blowing to me.

Ralph is an absolute legend.

Needless to say, the internet lost its mind over this legend. Check out some of my favorite comments.

“Free bird but from the bird’s perspective.”

“I didn’t expect the WHOLE SOLO.”

“Guys, that might be the free bird….”

“Ralph Whistler!? As in THIS Ralph Whistler?”

“Watching in fascination.”

“Jarvis, how is this even possible?”

“Birds in this guy’s neighborhood are going absolutely BERSERK right now.”

“What an insanely niche and impressive skill.”

“I know this guy has confused the hell out of some birds in his time.”

“One million birds just lost their mind over this.”

“I’m gonna ask my deaf cousin to lip-read this for me.”

“Karaoke night hates to see you coming.”

“Dude. I love old school folks with hidden talents.”

“This might be the best bar trick of all time.”

“The birds outside my window when I’m trying to sleep in on weekends.”

“I think this would have gotten you on the Ellen show.”

What are the odds of getting a lute player and Ralph Whistler collaboration? That’s something I’d pay money to have happen. The post The Internet Is Obsessed With This Whistling Man’s Wicked Rendition Of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Entire “Free Bird” Solo first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
