Thank God They Didn’t Re-Record Vince’s “Home Sweet Home” Vocals for Dolly Parton Collab

Crisis fuckin’ averted, man. When I’d read this morning that Mötley Crüe released a version of their 1985 classic Home Sweet Home with legendary country artist, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, and American treasure Dolly Parton, I was ready for the worst. Let’s face it — Vince Neil hasn’t been good in a very, very long time, so to have him sully Dolly’s effort in 2025 would have been a travesty. Yet I’m happy to report that not even the Crüe is delusional to let Vince “Big Mac $1.03” Neil near a mic for this one.

Set to be officially released in a special Mötley Crüe compilation titled From The Beginning this coming September, the re-imagined version of “Home Sweet Home” has Dolly singing over the actual 1985 track. From what I can tell, nothing else was done, which is a good thing, really.

The single was released today in a bid to not only celebrate the track’s 40th anniversary, but also to help benefit the Covenant House, a non-profit organization that works to help provide unhomed youths with shelter, food, and support.

Mötley Crüe expressed their excitement in working with Parton for the track, as well as their interest in contributing to such a cause, in a joint statement.

“We couldn’t be happier to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘Home Sweet Home’ in this special way, and we’re excited to share this version of the song with all the Dolly and Mötley fans around the world.

“That we were able to unite with Dolly to raise awareness for homeless youth and the amazing work of Covenant House, which provides them safe housing and care, makes it even more special. We hope you’ll enjoy ‘Home Sweet Home’ featuring Dolly Parton as much as Dolly and we enjoyed creating it.”

Similarly, Parton called her participation in the project an “honor and a joy” to work with Mötley Crüe on this version of the song.
