Report: Talks progressing for Arsenal to sign £50m winger, 5-year contract agreed
Arsenal have opened negotiations with Chelsea for the signing of winger Noni Madueke, according to The Athletic.

As reported by Fresh Arsenal earlier this week, the 23-year-old has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the Gunners.

Madueke, is a talented left-footed winger capable of playing on either flank. Though he primarily operates on the right, his versatility allows him to cut in from the left, offering Mikel Arteta tactical flexibility as he looks to reshape Arsenal’s frontline.

The Gunners’ pursuit of Madueke is part of a wider summer overhaul aimed at injecting more explosiveness and unpredictability into the attack. Andrea Berta, now leading Arsenal’s recruitment, is believed to be a strong admirer of Madueke’s flair and potential, despite the winger’s uneven spell at Chelsea since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023.

Chelsea are open to selling players to balance the books, and with Madueke open to the move, Arsenal are optimistic about reaching an agreement on a transfer fee. The winger is keen on linking up with Arteta and sees a clear pathway into the squad, even as the club explores other high-profile attacking options.

Fresh Arsenal understands Arsenal value the deal at around £40million + around £5million in add ons, Chelsea are pushing for a total figure to be in excess of £50million.

It remains to be seen how Madueke’s potential arrival would impact Arsenal’s interest in Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze — both of whom have been monitored closely this summer. All three players can operate across the front line, and competition for places is expected to be fierce if multiple signings are made.

One move that continues to gather momentum is Arsenal’s pursuit of Viktor Gyökeres. A deal for the Sporting CP striker is edging closer, with negotiations described as positive. For the latest on that front, see our update.

With personal terms already agreed, Madueke could become Arsenal’s next signing if talks with Chelsea progress smoothly and a compromise can be found on the fee.
