Report: Arsenal could now sign striker for bargain €60m after clause became active today
Arsenal’s pursuit of a striker could finally kick into gear as a crucial clause in one of their main targets contracts has become active from today.

According to A BOLA, a €60 million net offer for Swedish forward Viktor Gyokeres now carries major financial consequences if rejected. Sporting must compensate Gyökeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, with 10% of any proposal above that amount which they turn down. That means a rejected €60m bid would result in a €6m payment to Cetinkaya — unless Sporting choose to sell.

The clause, according to the report, has existed for some time but has only now taken full legal effect. Arsenal are reportedly willing to reach the €60m mark, and this development could trigger decisive movement in a summer that’s so far been quiet on the striker front for Mikel Arteta’s side.

However, Sporting remain defiant. While they had been open to a deal around €80m, they now threaten to demand the full €100m value of Gyökeres’ release clause if forced into a standoff. Their message is clear: activate the clause, or pay up. The forward’s agent holds an exclusive sales mandate, giving him significant leverage in the process.

Gyökeres, 27, scored prolifically last season and remains a top target for Arsenal, who are seeking a physical and clinical presence up front. This development could explain the delay in any formal move — but now that the clause is live, the landscape may change rapidly.

It still remains to be seen who Arsenal will sign upfront, but both Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko continue to be the most heavily linked.

Fans frustrated by Arsenal’s lack of striker signings may soon see progress. Whether the Gunners will push to meet Sporting’s rising demands or test the Lisbon club’s resolve with a €60m+ offer remains to be seen.
