This summer, Jelly Roll and Post Malone (along with Sierra Ferrell) have been out on the road for Post’s first stadium tour, the Big A** Stadium Tour, which is wrapping up the U.S. leg and they’re gearing up to head to Europe soon.
Of course, Post officially jumped into country last year with his extremely successful F-1 Trillion album last year, and has teased that another more traditionally country record, is on the way in the near future.
It’s clear at this point he’s going to sick around a while, and I’ve enjoyed a lot of the country music he’s put out and he’s worked with some great artists, though I’ll be honest, I’m looking forward to hearing more of some of his solo country stuff, because the deluxe edition of F-1 Trillion, which was solo and also very country, was really good and I think the more he leans into it, the better it will be.
Post has always done great covers, too, whether they’re rock, country, or any other genre, he’s just so versatile, and that’s is certainly evident on his rendition of Toby Keith’s hit “Who’s Your Daddy?,” which Jelly Roll shared a video of over the weekend. They sang it acoustically along with Post’s steel player Chandler Walters, and of course, the song was originally written and recorded by Keith and released in August of 2002.
It was included as the second single from his Unleashed album, and peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) chart, and became a minor crossover hit too after it peaked at #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.
It’s always a good day to tip the cap to the Big Dog Daddy, so start this 4th of July week of right:
