People Are All Of A Sudden Upset About Nick Saban Cursing On ‘College GameDay’ For Some Reason
Have these people never watched GameDay before? Or a Nick Saban press conference? Saban has been a great addition to ESPN and College GameDay since retiring as the head coach at Alabama following the 2023 season. Have these people never watched GameDay before? Or a Nick Saban press conference?
Saban has been a great addition to ESPN and College GameDay since retiring as the head coach at Alabama following the 2023 season. He’s obviously one of the best minds in the game, a legend in college football, and for anybody who didn’t realize it already, he’s actually hilarious. He’s got an understated, dry sense of humor that serves as the perfect contrast to Pat McAfee and his larger-than-life personality.
Oh yeah, he also curses a lot.
Anybody who’s ever watched a Nick Saban press conference knows that he’s not afraid to drop some cuss words, and that’s carried over to his career as a broadcaster.
Luckily ESPN is on cable and not broadcast TV so they’re not subject to FCC regulations on profanity, but obviously with advertisers and trying to market themselves as “family-friendly” the network has generally still gone easy when it comes to swearing.
But Nick Saban doesn’t seem to care.
Pretty much every episode of GameDay, Saban is letting the curse words fly – especially “sh-t,” which seems to be his favorite:
Coach Saban cursing on GameDay is nothing new – which is why it’s a little strange that people are upset about it today for some reason.
During an interview with his former assistant turned rival coach, Kirby Smart of Georgia, ahead of the SEC Championship Game between the Bulldogs and Alabama, Saban asked Kirby about what it’s going to take to win the title game today:
“What are the critical factors going to be in this game? And I know all the bulls–t that I taught you… so after all that bulls–t, tell me what really is a factor in this game?”
(The GameDay account censored the video it posted to social media, but it was unedited during the live airing on ESPN).
And for some reason, people just learned that Nick Saban likes to cuss, people it seems like a lot of people were upset about it:
When did it become fine for grown mature men to swear on daytime TV? Is Saban trying to be McAfee??

Old guys cursing is always a pathetic flex. It doesn’t make anyone edgy. It illustrates their verbal deficiencies and desperation for attention. Notice how @PatMcAfeeShow says the F word on his daily show but somehow forgets to use it on @CollegeGameDay. Total poser behavior.…

I love College Game Day. That being said, the cursing is not necessary. How many kids watch this show? The hardon pill commercials aren’t necessary, either. But I guess Disney needs all of the money that it can get.

I miss the days Lee Corso apologized for profanity.

Your show is not a locker room! We can’t have our children join us for the show anymore. Why all of the cursing?

Please stop with the foul language! It’s getting ridiculous. Have some class and realize people like their kids to watch the show.

Awful language for a Saturday morning show. Turned it off. Kids were around. Maybe yalls family has lost all decorum, but we’re still trying to hang on.

I’m guessing these parents who are worried about their kids hearing foul language have never taken their kids to an actual football game. I’ve said things at a college football game that would make Howard Stern blush.
I get wanting to be able to watch GameDay with your kids, but let’s be honest, your kid’s going to hear worse than that at an actual football game, and probably at school too. Nick Saban has always been known for his colorful language, so it shouldn’t really be a surprise that he’s carried that over to his career as a broadcaster.
He’s the GOAT for a reason, and at this point he can say whatever he wants. No reason to censor him now.
