Patrick Mahomes & Travis Kelce Announce Grand Opening For Their “1587 Prime” Steakhouse In Kansas City

There’s a new steakhouse in Kansas City… and it’s owned by two of the biggest names in the NFL.

It’s almost as if Kansas City Chiefs stars needed something else to conquer, since they’ve made winning in the National Football League rather easy. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have combined to win three Super Bowls together, and they were eyeing a fourth last year… but the Philadelphia Eagles had something to say about that.

Last time I checked though, I don’t know of any players from the Eagles teaming up to open their own steakhouse. That’s what Kelce and Mahomes are doing. They figured their connection on the field could translate to culinary success off of it, and with their names slapped on the restaurant (after all they’ve done for the city), there’s no doubt that the steakhouse will take off to new heights.

The upscale eatery is named 1587 Prime, an obvious play on the two numbers that both athletes have sported in their professional football careers. It’s located in the ground floor of the Loews Kansas City Hotel, which sits just under 10 miles away from Arrowhead Stadium. They just announced that the steakhouse will open up on September 17 (Mahomes’ birthday), meaning that the grand opening is now under a month away.

That means that while the duo is revving up in training camp for the football season, they’re also prepping to cut the ribbon on their new restaurant. Just as training camp is full of drills to make sure the end product comes out how the organization wants it, Mahomes and Kelce have been busy putting the finishing touches on 1587 Prime.

Earlier this week, the official social media account posted a video showing Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes trying out all of the menu items, because practice makes perfect… both in football and the restaurant business:

“Precision in every detail. Power in every bite. 1587 Prime opens Wednesday, September 17. Beginning Wednesday, August 20, you can reserve your table for opening night and beyond. Be among the first to experience Kansas City’s newest steakhouse.”

What a dream that would be to open a restaurant and get to taste test everything, eh?

It certainly seems like 1587 Prime will be a cool spot in Kansas City, and knowing the success that the duo has had together in the past, there’s no doubt in my mind that the steakhouse will be another victorious endeavor for Mahomes and Kelce.

Mahomes was especially excited about the new restaurant, saying:

“This brings something special to the city of Kansas City. KC loves food, and this is different, and I think the city is going to love it. At the same time, it has that Kansas City feel.”

As for Travis Kelce, who is coming off of an incredibly popular episode of his podcast New Heights, he says that opening the eatery with his QB only made sense:

“We both love this city. What’s better than to break bread with people over good food, good drinks in a cool vibe? The menus are just mind blowing.”
