Parker McCollum Has Gone Full Dad Mode Complaining About His Grass: “Choose Your Hard”

You know you’re in your dad era when you start posting stories about your grass.

Parker McCollum has hung up his wild days of partying with Koe Wetzel to become a family man and father. Last year, Parker McCollum and his wife, Hallie Ray Light, welcomed their first child into the world, Major Yancey Tyler McCollum.

Hallie Ray and Major often join McCollum on the road, making his tour experience a family affair these days. From the moments the couple shares on social media, it appears that road life has gifted this family of three with many sweet moments.

Although you can still hear some references to partying and hooking up with women in his lyrics, McCollum has moved on from that chapter of life, and admitted recently that he strives to be the man George Strait is off-stage (but I’m sure he also wishes to be like George on-stage, too).

“I’d be completely lying to you if I told you there wasn’t still the part of me that’s like, ‘Yeah, George Strait.’ With George, I would love to be the next George Strait off the stage: long marriage, great dad, great family man, great businessman, a spotless reputation, never been in trouble, never embarrassed his family on the news. I just think that’s so baller. I think there’s not going to be a lot of people in 50 years who still got it all together like that man does.”

Part of that formation into the stellar family man is embracing the things that come with fatherhood…like trying to win lawn of the month with your local HOA. Now, I have no clue if McCollum lives anywhere with an HOA, but part of fully embracing fatherhood is becoming obsessed with your lawn.

McCollum has shared some behind-the-scenes footage of his lawn care routine, revealing that the day after performing on stage with Kid Rock at AT&T Stadium, he was on his ride-on mower cutting the grass. He joked that sitting on his lawnmower was a stark difference compared to the few minutes he spent on stage rapping with the “Cowboy” vocalist.

“Win some, lose most.”

I mean… that’s life as a rockstar dad, right? Doing cool things one moment, then back to housework and keeping up with chores the next.

Recently, McCollum shared another grass update, and despite the summer heat, he remains committed to the cause of having great grass. A Parker McCollum fan account, @limestone.archive, screen-recorded and shared a hilarious stream of conscious thoughts from McCollum about the state of his grass.

“It’s 9 o’clock at night. I’m still out here screwing with the sprinklers. It’s hard to love grass. Choose your hard.”

HA.
