Trying to get out of Stillwater?

Today, news broke that Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy has been fired from the program, just days before the Big 12 opener against Baylor University.

Gundy, 58, had just embarked on his 21st season as head coach at his alma mater, and his removal from the program comes just days after the Cowboys lost to Tulsa. This decision also comes after Gundy publicly stated that he intended to remain the fearless leader of the Pokes beyond the 2025 season.

“I’m under contract, here, for I think 3½ years. When I was hired here to take this job, ever since that day, I’ve put my heart and soul into this, and I will continue to do that until at some point, if I say I don’t want to do it or if somebody else says we don’t want you to do it.”

The university’s choice to fire Gundy results in Oklahoma State owing him $15 million.

Until Oklahoma State selected a new head coach, with names like Texas State coach GJ Kinne and Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein in conversation, the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator, Doug Meacham, will step up as the interim head coach. Hopefully, Meacham leads the Pokes to a victory this weekend with the Baylor Bears visiting Stillwater, Oklahoma.

In light of the massive news, football fans discovered that Mike Gundy’s house in Stillwater is listed for sale, leading some to speculate that he is trying to relocate after being let go from the university. However, Gundy listed the home for sale in April of 2024. This also feels like subtle foreshadowing, given that last year’s season was not great for the Cowboys.

Maybe the next head coach for Oklahoma State will move into Gundy’s stunning $8 million home. Yes, folks, in rural Oklahoma, you can buy a 110-acre property with a luxurious six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bathroom home for a cool $8 million.

According to Realtor.com, Gundy shared he was putting his home on the market because it was “just a lot for two people.” Gundy and his wife have three sons — Gavin, Gunnar, and Gage —who are all adults now, so that reasoning makes sense.

Gundy’s stunning home is listed as one of the most expensive homes in the state and is by far the priciest home in the college town. The runner-up is priced at $3,375,000 (which ended up selling for only a fraction of its listing price in 2025 for $187,500). The median list price in Stillwater, Oklahoma, is a modest $275,000.

However, if this is your dream home, the 13,853-square-foot home features stunning log cabin elements, making it feel like a cozy hunting lodge. The cozy interior features a game room, movie theater, bunk room, a pool with a slide, hot tub, a detached barn/shop, a large pond, and more.

This home is truly stunning.
