Martin Garrix Breaks Into Drum & Bass, Teams Up With Arcando for Festival Anthem “Set Me Free”

Martin Garrix has entered new territory with the release of his first-ever drum & bass record, “Set Me Free,” a collaboration with Dutch producer Arcando and Swedish singer-songwriter Bonn.

Bonn, a frequent Garrix collaborator, sets the stage immediately with his opening verse: “When I’m tied up to my hands / And we’re stuck in the same dance / You’re the crime, you’re the witness / Set me free.” His powerful hook then launches into a massive drop where his velvety vocals cut through the chaos of frenetic drums and soaring synths, striking a balance between Arcando’s drum & bass precision and Garrix’s anthemic touch. 

The track first made its live debut during Garrix’s Ultra Miami set this past March and quickly becoming one of the most talked-about IDs of the festival after clips racked up millions of views across social media.

“Martin and I have been talking about doing a drum & bass record together ever since he played my remix of ‘Jungle’ at Ultra Miami last year,” Arcando said. “We wanted to recreate that special moment by working on a drum & bass song together, something fresh for 2025. We eventually managed to find the perfect blend between both of our styles. I’m so excited to finally have the song coming out, especially as it is also Martin’s first-ever drum & bass record.”

For Arcando, the collaboration continues a breakthrough 2025. Since Garrix played his viral remix of “Jungle,” Arcando climbed to the #3 spot on Beatport’s best-selling drum & bass artists list, with the help of several chart-topping releases and an official remix of Garrix’s “Limitless.” For Garrix, the new single tees up his highly anticipated ORIGO EP, landing this September. Said to be “the final missing piece” of a trilogy alongside Sentio and IDEM, the project will include “Set Me Free” and the fan-favorite Alesso collaboration “Inside Our Hearts,” among others.

Beyond the studio, Garrix’s calendar is packed. He’s set to headline Creamfields, Ultra Japan and Breakaway NorCal alongside his long-running Ushuaïa Ibiza residency, now celebrating its 10th year. He also maintains a Las Vegas residency at Omnia and will make his long-awaited Red Rocks debut this October with back-to-back shows at the legendary open-air amphitheater.
