Landman Season 2 is officially in production.
It was just revealed by leading man Billy Bob Thornton (Tommy Norris) that production is underway and that the cast only has half of the Season 2 script (they got the entire season at the beginning of production for Season 1), but regardless, he said there’s a lot to be excited about.
I’m loving this season, the relationships are really growing and gelling, not only as actors, but with the characters. The first season of anything, you’re explaining everything to everybody… But now, people know who we are, so we don’t have to set anything up anymore. We just dove right into it and we were these people again.”
If you haven’t had a chance to watch Landman yet, first of all, what are you waiting for? But second… I won’t spoil too much in this blog. If you did watch, we all saw the legendary actor who finally made an appearance towards the end of the season, and fans are definitely excited to see more from him, but if there is one thing Landman fans are pumped about for Season 2, it’s new cast member Sam Elliott. Elliott is no stranger to working with Taylor Sheridan (even though he hated Yellowstone), as he starred as Shea Brennan in the Yellowstone prequel series 1883, but there’s something about Texas and “Big Oil” that seems like a perfect fit for him. Granted, he grew up in California and Oregon, but his parents are Texans… it just seems too perfect that he would play a West Texas oil guy.
It’s unclear what his role will be in the show, but many have speculated that he’ll slide into Tommy Norris’ shoes since Tommy was promoted to fill Monty’s shoes at the end of the season. The new “fixer,” if you will, and it makes a ton of sense. Others have speculated that he could be the father of Billy Bob’s character Tommy Norris, or his father-in-law, the dad of Ali Larter’s character, Angela Norris. Elliott is only about ten years older than Thornton so Larter’s father would probably make more sense, but I just don’t see it. I’m willing to bet he’s definitely involved in the oil business.
We’ll keep an eye out for more details on the character, but in the mean time, it seems like he’s already settled in on set. Ali Larter and Michelle Randolph (Aynsley Norris) shared a photo with the Oscar-nominated star, and fans were LOVING it.
