Jamey Johnson Hilariously Roasts Riley Green For His Massive Arm Muscles: “All That Time Alone”
Respect to Jamey Johnson…I wasn’t familiar with his roast game. I’ve always heard that Johnson was one of the funniest guys in country music. Respect to Jamey Johnson…I wasn’t familiar with his roast game.
I’ve always heard that Johnson was one of the funniest guys in country music. He’s generally pretty quiet though, doesn’t say a whole lot, doesn’t do a ton of interviews, just consistently delivers some of the best country music out there.
But now I want to see him just going around roasting other country artists.
Johnson and Riley Green are both Alabama natives, with the “In Color” singer hailing from Enterprise, Alabama while Riley grew up and played college football in Jacksonville, Alabama. So naturally they have a lot in common – and apparently Jamey can’t resist doing a little good natured ribbing of his fellow ‘Bama boy.
Jamey shared a video recently of the two country singers on the golf course…and the normally-quiet Johnson was talking mad smack:
“The only thing that got bigger on you in the past five years is that mouth.”
Somebody else pointed out that Riley’s forearms had also grown, and Jamey agreed – before striking his final blow on Riley:
“All that time alone.”

Boom, roasted.
You’ve gotta admit, that’s hilarious. Even Riley got a big kick out of it. And if you don’t get it…well, somebody can explain the joke in the comments. Just make sure they’re not jerking your chain.
Not gonna lie, I would probably pay to just watch Jamey Johnson roast his fellow country artists.
Of course it’s not the first time we’ve heard about Johnson’s devious sense of humor.
One thing you might not expect is that Johnson is also good friends with Matthew McConaughey. The actor even starred in Johnson’s music video for “Playing the Part” back in 2010, donning a gorilla suit on the Hollywood Walk of Fame:
In fact, McConaughey once recalled the first time they met and Johnson not being able to take his eyes off of his then-girlfriend, now wife Camila:
“I’m with Camila and when I was there to present, I think his song was up, I said ‘I like this guy Jamey Johnson, let me do that category and I’d like to meet him.’
So I head back there with Camila and he’s standing there with his red cup, and I’m shaking his hand and say, ‘Hey, Jamey Johnson nice to meet you.’
He’s shaking my hand, but he’s looking right at her going, ‘Well, nice to meet you.’
He’s staring right at Camila, just dead eye stare, not even sneaky, no slant eye, just dead red. And while he’s still shaking my hand, he stops and goes ‘God,’ and he still has my hand.
So I say, “Jamey this is my girlfriend Camila’ and he says, “I know.”
Didn’t take his eyes off her for one second and I was like ‘I like this guy, I like this guy a lot.’”
Classic.
But that’s not the only story McConaughey has shared about Jamey.
Apparently the country star has somewhat of a twisted sense of humor, which really came out when the two had placed a friendly wager on a college football game.
According to McConaughey, it happened back in 2010 when McConaughey’s Texas Longhorns and Johnson’s Alabama Crimson Tide were facing off in the BCS National Championship game. The two decided to make a friendly wager on the game, with the loser having to make a donation to the winner’s charity of choice.
Well Alabama went on to defeat the Longhorns 37-21 and finish the season with a perfect record, so McConaughey was on the hook (no “hook ’em” pun intended) for the donation. And Jamey’s chosen charity?
Gamblers Anonymous.
You’ve gotta admit, that’s pretty funny.
But apparently the organization didn’t really see the humor in accepting money made from…gambling. As McConaughey recalled:
“I had a bet with Jamey Johnson once, a country musician, great musician and he won the bet and we said before the bet, whoever wins we’ll give the $300 dollars to the winner’s favorite charity.
He won, but his charity was Gamblers Anonymous. So we sent them the $300 and told them the little story and Gamblers Anonymous said ‘we can not take this donation. We cannot receive these funds because of the way you got them.’”
Guess they didn’t appreciate the irony.
