Another incredible lineup featuring Texas artists who are giving back to their community.
Since the horrific Fourth of July floods that swept away communities in Central and South Texas, the country music community has banded together in a big way. I have never seen such a high number of benefit shows announced, with many artists overlapping at these events, giving it their all to give back to those in need.
Music is, of course, healing, and in times of distress, the people who create the music are often the ones who step up to the plate. When Hurricane Helene caused similarly tragic flooding in Western North Carolina last fall, Eric Church and Luke Combs put together the Concert for Carolina benefit, which raised over $24 million for disaster relief. And now with the devastating flooding in Texas, other artists with connections to Texas are putting together benefit concerts to help heal the Lone Star State.
Several benefit concerts organized by Texas-born artists have already taken place, like Josh Weathers’ benefit concert that raised over $400,000 less than 48 hours after the disaster happened (and is now at surpassed $500,000), George Strait announced “Strait To The Heart,” a benefit concert that is taking later this month on July 27th, and Pat Green raised over $1 million with a livestream benefit. And Texas natives Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum announced their benefit show, officially dubbed Band Together Texas.
Now, Tanglefoot Festival, held in Temple, Texas, has announced that it will be helping the affected Texas communities. The inaugural festival is set to take place on September 12th and 13th, and festival organizers and BBQ pitmasters have recently announced that they have united to donate ticket proceeds and raise additional funds for Central Texas flood victims.
Tanglefoot announced their stacked lineup earlier this year, which features Parker McCollum, Cody Jinks, Randy Rogers Band, Robert Earl Keen, Silverada, Corey Kent, and more.
Along with the stellar music selection, the festival is also bringing in some of the best pit masters in the nation for some world-class BBQ tastings. Some of the notable out-of-state BBQ legends attending the festival include Edge Craft Barbecue (Oklahoma), Southern Smoke BBQ (North Carolina), Fork Grove Barbecue (South Carolina), Owens & Hull (Georgia), and Meat Mitch (Kansas)
Temple Mayor Tim Davis shared that this festival is a unique experience while also raising money for a good cause:
“Welcoming some of the nation’s top pitmasters to Temple is truly a rare treat for our residents. This lineup of acclaimed BBQ talent adds another layer of excitement to Tanglefoot, and we’re proud to see our city hosting a premier event that brings together great music, world-class food, and community celebration all in one place.”
If this stellar lineup and the delicious sound of BBQ weren’t calling you to buy tickets to this festival, knowing that the money you spend on a ticket is going to help those in need makes this festival a must-attend event.
Good on Tanglefoot Festival for stepping up to help their greater Texas community.
