Not a Springsteen fan, eh?
Of course I wouldn’t really expect Aaron Lewis to be a big fan of Bruce Springsteen. Lewis, a country singer and the frontman for rock band Staind, is an outspoken conservative and supporter of President Donald Trump. The Boss, on the other hand, has always been a proud Democrat and publicly endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election.
And during a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Lewis didn’t hold back on his feelings for the heartland rocker.
Lewis admits that he was once a fan, but feels “duped” by Springsteen acting like a “blue collar” American when in reality he’s one of the richest artists in the world. (A recent estimate put his net worth at over a billion dollars).
According to Lewis:
“I think that he is a disgusting display of not appreciating what was handed to him in this country as being an American, the success that he has had. The fact that he duped us all with one of the most anti-American songs ever and called it ‘Born in the USA’ as some sort of celebration of how great it is to be born in the USA.
I’m angry at myself for not seeing it for so long and actually giving him, in my mind, the credit of being a representation of blue collar America.”
He also accuses Springsteen of being “out of touch” and forgetting where he came from, and blames Springsteen’s success in the music business for clouding his vision of the real world struggles facing average Americans:
“I think that he has forgotten where he came from. I think that if you’re not careful doing this, this career that me and him have both been so blessed to have had, if you’re not careful, it will consume you.
And it’s obvious that it creates a situation where you’ve lost sight of the reality of the country that you live in because you’ve lived such a cush, you’ve had so much, you have so much that it’s really easy to take a stance that is so anti-everything, that you were lucky enough to have, lucky enough to create, lucky enough to change your situation in life.”
Lewis believes that Springsteen’s politics are “virtue signaling” because he feels guilty for being so rich:
“And he has just lost touch with the struggles. He’s lost touch with the struggle. And it seems like most people who have lost touch with the true struggle of life, those are the people that vote for these f—ing idiots. Those are the people that feel like they have to virtue signal. Those are the people that somewhere along the way they feel guilty for the success that they have had.”
He’s not alone in his feelings on Springsteen. Earlier this year, Springsteen went on an anti-Trump rant during a show in Europe, which prompted a fiery response from Kid Rock:
“This guy’s got what, $500 million, a billion dollars, and is out there playing like he’s a working class hero? And really to me just wants to be in good standings with the Hollywood elite.”
I guess we won’t be seeing these three on tour together any time soon. The post “He’s Lost Touch With The Struggle” – Aaron Lewis Calls Bruce Springsteen “A Disgusting Display” Of Someone Who’s Forgotten Where They Came From first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
