From Dune to Your DAW: Splice Democratizes Blockbuster Orchestral Sounds Through Spitfire Deal

Splice is making Hollywood-grade orchestral tools accessible to electronic music producers through a new collaboration with Spitfire Audio, marking the first major partnership since their acquisition of the British audio company earlier this year.

Starting today, creators can access prized Spitfire libraries including "BBC Symphony Orchestra Professional" and "Abbey Road Two: Iconic Strings Pro" through Splice's rent-to-own model, joining Xfer's Serum as marketplace exclusives. The arrangement lets users pay monthly installments with zero interest until they own the full licenses.

The move also democratizes access to professional orchestral sounds that have powered blockbuster scores for Dune, Inception and Call of Duty, among other high-profile titles. One plugin, "AIR Studios Reverb," was utilized in the development of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

"Rent-to-Own is one of the most beloved aspects of Splice and we’re honored to bring these iconic Spitfire Audio products to our marketplace," Splice CEO Kakul Srivastava said in a statement. "These libraries and effects have shaped some of the most memorable scores in modern films and games and now Splice users can bring that same emotive power to their own work."

The partnership signals Splice's continued push beyond its sample-based roots into premium plugin territory. By offering interest-free monthly payments on tools that typically cost hundreds of dollars upfront, the platform is betting that subscription-style access will unlock new creative possibilities for its community of over four million users.

Spitfire's meticulously recorded libraries capture performances from legendary venues like Abbey Road's Studio Two and BBC's Maida Vale studios. The initial rollout also includes the fan-favorite "BBC Radiophonic Workshop," with Eric Whitacre Choir and AIR Studios Reverb launching August 14th.

For Spitfire co-founder Paul Thomson, the collaboration represents a technological breakthrough years in the making.

"This is something we've been asked about over the years, and we now have the technological capability to offer this path to ownership," Thomson said. "It has been no small feat to make our libraries available via rent-to-own and we look forward to hearing more music made from people using these tools."
