Ragweed is back together, and now the Wormy Dog Saloon is posting cryptic messages. What did we do to deserve this?

The Wormy Dog Saloon was a staple venue in the Oklahoma and Red Dirt country music scene. The dive bar first opened in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in 1992 and served as a launching ground for many artists, including Brandon Jenkins, Jason Boland, The Great Divide, Cross Canadian Ragweed, No Justice, and many more. While the Wormy Dog was a huge gathering place for talent coming out of Stillwater in the ’90s, that was just the start of the impact the Wormy Dog could have on the music scene.

Eleven years after opening, the venue relocated to Oklahoma City’s Bricktown neighborhood. It was a stage for artists known and loved by country fans today, such as Koe Wetzel, Southall, the Turnpike Troubadours, Parker McCollum, Pat Green, American Aquarium, William Clark Green, Wade Bowen, Kaitlin Butt, Whiskey Myers, and the list goes on.

But all good things can’t last forever, right? In 2017, the Wormy Dog Saloon announced that they were closing their doors… but they left the door open in their closing post, indicating that this was not the end of the Wormy Dog Saloon.

“In 1992, the Wormy Dog Saloon opened in Stillwater, Oklahoma. 11 years later it came to the Bricktown OKC location to carry on the tradition of hosting top performers and having a rowdy good time.

We’ve enjoyed the music. We’ve enjoyed the fans. We’ve enjoyed our employees, but after almost 15 years of “dragging your tail on down to the Wormy Dog”, it’s time for a change.

The Bricktown location will be closing its doors for the last time at the end of April. For now, you can catch some great music at our sister venues, The Criterion, in Bricktown and Tumbleweed Dancehall & Concert Venue in Stillwater.

As for later? All we’ll say for now is:

To be continued…”

At the time of closing, the owner, Ronnye Farmer, shared a statement with The Oklahoman, stating that they were hoping to relocate and that this would not be the end of The Wormy Dog.

Bricktown has a changed quite a bit over the 15 years Wormy Dog has been there. It has become more of an event driven district, than a place where people actively come to just hang out, hear music, etc. We are actively looking for a new location that will fit the more neighborhood hangout feel that Wormy Dog has always had and a place to provide the great music we always have in this setting.”

It appears that day might be coming soon. Eight years after the Wormy Dog Saloon closed its doors for the final time, they are sharing a cryptic message that they could be opening once again.

“Boys and Girls from Oklahoma… something’s coming!”

Are they reopening in Oklahoma City? Could they be returning to their roots in Stillwater, Oklahoma? Are we potentially getting a Wormy Dog Saloon reopening before the second annual Boys From Oklahoma event in Stillwater in April of 2026? Are they hosting a one-night only Ragweed show?

So many questions are spinning through fans of the famed dive bar and venue, but no matter what it is, folks are excited.

“Talk about a page coming back from the dead.”

“Are we getting a wormy dog remake?”

“Get us an elevator!”

“If the Wormy Dog is making a comeback, I feel like we need Ragweed concerts there too.”

“*finds my t-shirt, ok….ready!”

“Bringing it back to its roots!”

“Wormy Dog popping up on my news feed was not on my 2025 bingo card, but I’m here for it!!! LFG!”

“This place is coming BACK from the DEAD… it’s a Christmas miracle I tell ya!!!”

“Don’t tease us lol”

I hope they don’t make us wait long for another cryptic post or announcement.

Texas country rocker Tanner Usrey is taking a little bit of credit for this as well, sharing on Twitter (X). And while this is hilarious, he’s not wrong about the timing of his posts and the later announcements… I hope that Tanner Usrey’s magical powers work again for the Wormy Dog Saloon.

“Tweeted about Ragweed, 6 months later they announce BFO. I tweeted about Wormy Dog months later they’re posting cryptic messages. You’re welcome folks.”

Before you go, fire up a few songs from Cross Canadian Ragweed’s live album from the Wormy Dog Saloon.

“Bang My Head”

“Carney Man”
