Ella Langley has big dreams. And to accomplish them, she’s using a play from one of the biggest names in the business.
It’s no secret that Ella is on a roll that does not look like it’s slowing anytime soon. After being the most nominated artist for this year’s ACM Awards, Langley’s already taken home quite a few trophies, she just released a new single with her “dream collaboration,” and had another single score her second number one hit. On top of that, she’s been touring nonstop, primarily supporting Riley Green on his Damn Country Music tour, and hitting many major festivals this summer.
The girl is busy, to say the least.
With her popularity continuing to rise rapidly, Langley is doing her part to ensure that she and her band look and sound their best, constantly putting their best foot forward each night they take the stage. To achieve that, it requires a lot of band practice. However, she recently shared that she’s taken a page out of Kid Rock’s playbook to find ways to tighten up as a group.
In a recent appearance on Country Nights Live With Bev Rainey, Langley spilled the beans on how Kid Rock keeps his band sharp:
“My roommate, Trey Lewis, he was on tour with Kid for like a year, and he said that he goes back in his greenroom, he records his whole show. He goes back in his greenroom and then makes him and his band watch the tape immediately afterwards, and they go through their show, just like a football game. You know?”
Pretty smart. Before celebrating the show, watch it back while everything is still fresh in your mind and discuss mistakes and how to improve upon them. When Trey Lewis shared this trick from Kid Rock, Ella Langley immediately went to her band and asked if they were open to doing the same.
In fact, Langley shares that she does not want to skip any steps or move too quickly; she wants to keep her nose to the grindstone and work her way up the ranks to achieve her ultimate goal of playing stadiums.
“I told my band, ‘Would y’all be offended if we…?’ And my guys were not. I think if you want to do this to a level of like… I’m trying to go to stadiums. Like that is my (goal). I want to, and I don’t care how long it takes me to get there. I mean, I’m going to do it.
I’m not afraid of the work that it takes to get there. I’m enjoying the ride, I’m enjoying the journey, that’s why we’re not… Could we sell more tickets than some of these venues we played on this last tour? Yes. But I want to play those venues. I want somebody to say I saw Ella Langley for a $15 ticket at this venue.
And my career is doing crazy things right now, so people would think, ‘Let’s go straight into these massive shows.’ No. I’m like, let’s go into the next step. You know why? I went through all of these venues as an opener, so I want to go back and sell that out and be like, ‘Yes!'”
That mentality will be the reason she has a lasting career. Ella Langley knows the importance of putting in the work and not jumping the gun. She’s in it for the long haul, and she’s taking the steps to make sure she builds a lasting fan base.
Ella Langley is the real deal.
