Going back to the original, very successful recipe, so to speak.

Of course, beloved restaurant Cracker Barrel has found themselves in quite a firestorm over the last month or so, after announcing some massive changes, including and most notably, changing their iconic logo.

There was national backlash when they removed the “old timer” from their iconic logo and going with a much more simple, minimalist look:

Most people hated it, and the company took a huge hit in the stock market following the announcement, and many decided to boycott the restaurant chain until it they reverted it back to the original. They announced just a couple weeks ago that they were reverting back to the “Old Timer” logo.

But it wasn’t just the logo that has been upsetting loyal customers…

Cracker Barrel has also been completely remodeling the inside of their stories, taking the vintage, cozy look and turning it into a gray, sterile looking place… it’s incredibly modern and the total opposite of what patrons have come to know and love about the homey establishment. I went once to one that looked like this, and I hated it:

But the cries of the people have been heard, and Cracker Barrel just announced that they are “suspending our remodels,” and all of the restaurants that have not yet been remodeled will keep their old school Cracker Barrel look.

It sounds like they’re not planning to revert the ones that have already been completed, but who knows. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually redecorate the ones that have been remodeled to make them look cohesive with the old school style everyone enjoys:

“You’ve shared your voices in recent weeks not just on our logo, but also on our restaurants. We’re continuing to listen. Today, we’re suspending our remodels. If your restaurant hasn’t been remodeled, you don’t need to worry, it won’t be.

With our recent announcement that our ‘Old Timer’ logo will remain, along with our bigger focus in the kitchen and on your plate, we hope that today’s step reinforces that we hear you.”

I guess the squeaky wheel really does get the grease sometimes… or the biscuits and gravy in a place that doesn’t feel like a hospital waiting room. Giving the people what they very clearly want is always good for business:
