Once could be a coincidence, but when it keeps happening?

Zach Bryan surprised fans this morning when he dropped three new tracks, including “Streets of London,” “River Washed Hair” and “Song For You.”

He had previously said that “Streets of London” would be dropping on Monday, after debuting the song at Hyde Park in London over the weekend. But when Monday came and went and the song wasn’t released, Zach then said that he would be dropping TWO songs instead of one, so he needed an extra day:

“Decided to put two songs out instead of just one so it’s gonna take an extra day!! Songs’ll be out Tuesday. Sorry, sorry, sorry.”

And then he dove into detailing why they are coming out now, and also why they won’t be on the new album:

“They are kind of just tunes that didn’t belong on the record, and they didn’t fit on an EP either. So I’m just releasing them into the world because I love them. Hope you guys enjoy them. I love one of ya! Even the folks who talked mad s*** all year.”

Well Tuesday also came and went with no new music. But this morning, fans woke up to not two but three new releases from Zach – which also happened to come on the same day as Tyler Childers dropped his much-anticipated new single “Oneida” from his upcoming album Snipe Hunter.

Now, Zach Bryan has long been a Tyler Childers fan, one saying that the Kentucky native was “ten fold” the musician that Zach is, and calling out country radio when Childers scored his first-ever charting single last year with “In Your Love.” (He also took a shot at Walker Hayes and “Fancy Like” in the process, which ignited a whole other controversy).

But anyway, surely it’s just a coincidence that Zach surprise released three new songs on the same day as one of his musical heroes, right?

Except fans can’t help but notice that it keeps happening.

As several people over on Twitter/X have pointed out, this isn’t the first time Zach has dropped a surprise release on the same day as his friends. Back when Charles Wesley Godwin released his incredible Family Ties album back in 2023, Zach surprised fans by dropping his new Boys of Faith EP at the same time.

Zach responded to the criticism, saying that he didn’t know Charles was releasing his album on the same day and calling him “an insanely close friend.”

“I did not know that Charles was dropping yesterday, he is an insanely close friend of mine and we do not talk music too often believe it or not

If I would have known I would have waited you internet heroes truly know how to die for a cause and jump to conclusions yeah”

Later that same year, we also got A Cat In The Rain, the highly-anticipated return album from Turnpike Troubadours, the first album the band had released since going on hiatus a few years ago. Zach has frequently cited Turnpike as an inspiration, especially since they’re both from Oklahoma, and even took them out on the road with him for his Quittin’ Time tour last year.

But just two weeks before Turnpike dropped their album, Zach announced that he would be dropping his self-titled album on the same day, featuring duets with names like Kacey Musgraves, Sierra Ferrell and The Lumineers. Guess which album ended up getting more attention?

Noticing a trend yet?

Well then last year, Zach’s good friend and bandmate J.R. Carroll dropped “Hometown Hero,” the first single from his debut album, on November 8 – and the day before, Zach surprise released three new tracks. (Of course this was also the same day as his ex-girlfriend, Brianna Chickenfry, dropped her tell-all podcast on their relationship, so maybe that had something to do with the timing of his new releases…)

Now, when you release as much music as Zach maybe it’s just hard to find a time to release new songs when one of your friends or heroes AREN’T releasing new music. But it just keeps happening, and at this point fans are starting to not-so-quietly wonder if it’s an ego play from Zach.

Once could be chalked up to a coincidence. But at least four times now?The post Country Fans Can’t Help But Notice That Zach Bryan Always Seems To Surprise Drop New Music On The Same Day As His Friends first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
