College Football Fans Were NOT Impressed With Bailey Zimmerman’s Performance On ESPN ‘College GameDay’

Was Bailey Zimmerman actually that bad on ESPN’s College GameDay? Or was it just the fact that he was singing next to country music star and vocal powerhouse Luke Combs?

ESPN’s flagship college football pregame show aired from the campus of the University of Georgia today. The program (or progrum, if you ask Pat McAfee) is there for the highly anticipated matchup between the Bulldogs and the undefeated Ole Miss Rebels. And since College GameDay decided to go down south for the weekend, they also made the call to lean into country music.

While the likes of Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Nick Saban were all set up to break down all things college football and predict the biggest games of the weekend, country music stars Luke Combs and Bailey Zimmerman were there to perform in front of the rowdy crowd there for the marquee matchup between No. 9 Georgia and No. 5 ranked Ole Miss.

It was announced earlier this week that Combs and Zimmerman would be putting on a live performance during College GameDay and that it would air live from the University of Georgia’s campus. And when the time came around (the pair went on around 10:20 a.m. local time, which might be the earliest concert they’ve ever put on), Zimmerman and Combs went with a song of Bailey’s: “Backup Plan,” which is featured on Zimmerman’s Different Night Same Rodeo album.

Here’s how it went:

What’d you think?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Instant perspective is a very dangerous thing. Zimmerman by himself might have been okay, but I think the fact that he was singing alongside Luke Combs was the kicker.

If I was a singer, I’d never, under any circumstance, share the stage with someone who is that much more vocally talented than I am. That’s how I saw the College GameDay performance… Zimmerman wasn’t bad, but Combs is just in another league… especially live.

Social media wasn’t as nice about it as I am:

Damn, tell us how you really feel…

Of course, it was all love for Luke:
