One of the latest additions to Spinefarm’s impressive roster of bands recently dropped a seriously kickass track that you just gotta check out. Cold Steel, a Florida-based act known for an aggressive style that they say blends “thrash intensity, hardcore grit, and bone-breaking grooves” released their latest single “Blacksmith Of Damnation” to mark their signing with Spinefarm.
Produced by Arthur Rizk, whose previous credits include working with Power Trip, Blood Incantation, and Cavalera, the track as a whole’s got that big balls swingin’, here comes trouble motherfuckers feel to it. And while that’s definitely the result of the band’s overarching sound, I really think a lot of that feel stems from the riffs on this thing. If you don’t find yourself headbanging to this, you might need to check your pulse.
Speaking of the new tune, vocalist Jose Menendez outlined how it was about the pursuit of knowledge along the hero’s journey.
“Bear witness to an earth-shattering force that is ‘Blacksmith of Damnation’—a harrowing tale of good versus evil, a hunt for salvation, and an unrelenting quest to unveil what lies beyond.
“We’re truly grateful for our team at Spinefarm Records, not just for the opportunity, but for giving us free rein to embrace our creative expression. Thank you to everyone involved in this project, especially to our supporters. We sincerely hope you all enjoy this blistering take on the hero’s journey.”
If you’re in the Florida area, you can catch Cold Steel a couple times this summer, first at Florida Rules Fest on June 21 and at Tampa’s The Brass Mug as a supporting act for Crowbar and Eyehategod.
