Deion Sanders has been in the spotlight a lot in his life. Whether it was his playing days in NFL and MLB, his time at the HBCU Jackson State, or his current coaching gig with the Colorado Buffaloes, a lot of eyes have always been on him. And that’s especially been the case as his personal health has been under a microscope as late.

There were even rumors swirling that he’d step down as head coach at Colorado, but those turned out to be untrue… thankfully.

Soon, the spotlight will be shining on Coach Prime and his Buffaloes team’s performance. Believe it or not, Deion Sanders is embarking on his third season as the Colorado head coach (time flies, eh?). He’s looking to follow up a respectable 9-4 season, in which his squad went 7-2 in their first year in the Big 12 Conference.

Time and time again in Deion Sanders’ still young coaching career, he’s come into a struggling program and quickly turned it around. How? Obviously there’s some X’s and O’s to it all, but at the very foundation of things, Coach Prime makes sure that he’s cultivating professionals.

Sometimes that’s through leading by example, like when the head coach decided to offer a continued scholarship to a player that had to step away from the program because of concussions. Other times, Deion takes pride in holding his players to a certain standard – both on and off the field.

A video that was taken during a Colorado team meeting is now going viral, only because it shows Deion Sanders emphasizing the small-yet-important details. While addressing his players, Coach Prime said nothing about football and everything about carrying yourself in a professional manner.

He knows that little things like this will go a long way in the success of his football program… but more importantly the success of his players in their post-football careers:

“We start school when? Tomorrow. No slides. I’m gonna send people to campus tomorrow, and if I see you with slides on campus, it’s gonna be a problem. If I see you with a hoodie on with headphones on in class, it’s gonna be a problem. If I see you sitting in the back of the classroom, it’s gonna be a problem.

Do we understand that? And if you are online… if you have online classes and you don’t have a shirt on or you have a wife beater on or if you have something stupid on that causes a distraction or you are walking around during an online session, it’s gonna be a problem. We good with that guys?”
