Chris Pratt and everyone else involved with The Terminal List franchise making sure that veterans are taken care of.
Say what you want about Chris Pratt, but he’s one of the most warmhearted people in all of Hollywood. He’s often outspoken about his faith, and he has a real soft spot for people who have served to protect the United States of America. I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention his own rags to riches story. In case you’ve never heard it, I’ll give you the short version.
Pratt was living out of a van in Hawaii at the age of 19, and was waiting tables at a Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant. He wasn’t even really trying to get into acting, yet one fateful day, a director came into the restaurant, was waited on by Pratt, and that director later gave Chris his first role in Hollywood.
I think that origin story alone is enough to make you think that a higher power must exist. Why in the world would a director be suddenly entranced by a server at a chain restaurant? And how odd is it that a movie star that’s been the glue of huge blockbuster films like Avengers: Endgame and Jurassic World just so happened to be waiting on that director’s table in Hawaii of all places?
You obviously know the rest of the story. Pratt has gone on to star in a plethora of successful projects on the small and big screen. One that has really landed with actions fans is his involvement in The Terminal List, and now that show’s prequel series: Terminal List: Dark Wolf.
This prequel show focuses in on Taylor Kitsch’s character, Ben Edwards, who was considered to be a fan favorite in the show’s first season. This new seven-episode series also stars Tom Hopper, Luke Hemsworth, and Chris Pratt.
While Pratt was on The Tonight Show to promote the new series, he explained how the prequel show came to be:
“It was one of those things (where) you don’t really know how an audience is going to react to a show, so you’re really at the mercy of the studio and whether or not they’d be willing to continue the show. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don’t.
This one was really working. And especially a fan favorite character, Taylor Kitsch plays the character Ben Edwards. (He’s) awesome during the first season, and I don’t want to give any spoilers… but his character is really fascinating.”
Those who tuned into the 2022 hit show wanted to know more about Taylor Kitsch’s character, and the studio heard those fans and decided to spin up a spinoff… in the form of a prequel series. The first, flagship season of the show was based on a book, but this prequel is not, and draws off of what is already known about Kitsch’s character Ben Edwards.
And it’s cool to hear that most of the show, and the people who work around it, are veterans themselves. Chris Pratt shared that The Terminal List: Dark Wolf really goes for hyperrealistic storytelling, and they’re able to create that feeling by letting individuals who have actually served previously write the scripts:
“It’s a seven episode series this season, and five of the episodes are written by veterans. It’s pretty cool.
We’ve got a really fantastic team of executive producers that are former Navy Seals, former Army Rangers and a bunch of men and women who have retired and transitioned over into the film and television industry.
Which is, by the way, a fantastic avenue for these folks. Super service driven. Work really hard. It’s a really nice fit. It’s been great for everybody.”
It’s certainly a win-win for everyone. Viewers know they are getting the best and most realistic story on their television screens, and actual veterans are given a purpose after they’ve gotten back home from serving our great country. If that doesn’t get you interested in The Terminal List, I don’t know what will.
