Charles Wesley Godwin, Colby Acuff & Phillip Bowen All Volunteer To Play Sheetz Gas Station Concert, & We Gotta Make This Happen
Think Buc-ee’s is the best gas station in all of the land? Sheetz would like a word. While some tertiary gas stations are struggling to just provide clean bathrooms and friendly services, two gas station giants are revolutionizing the role of gas stations in modern day society (buckle up, I’m about to say “gas station” a lot in this story).
Think service stations are just for filling up on gas and stocking up on snacks and drinks for the road?
Wrong.
Places like Buc-ee’s and Sheetz are showing that gas stations are more than just a couple of pumps and aisles of junk food. They’re places where people can gather, and untapped locations for killer concerts. Sounds weird right? If you think so, that’s just because your brain can’t think outside the box as well as Sheetz and Buc-ee’s can.
Both gas station franchises have hosted concerts at one of their locations in the past year. You might remember Keith Urban firing up his guitar in a Buc-ee’s parking lot not too long ago, and Sheetz just recently hosted the All-American Rejects at one of their Philadelphia locations.
Now that Sheetz – a gas station chain primarily located in the eastern United States – has pulled off a successful concert, the franchise is hungering for more. That’s why they sent out this post earlier today asking fans and followers who their next parking lot concert should feature.
Hundreds of people have already flooded the reply section of the post with requests. But a handful of country artists that are familiar with the Sheetz brand have gone a step further and volunteered themselves to be a part of what could turn into one hell of a “Sheetz Concert Series.”
First up is West Virginia native Charles Wesley Godwin, who is very familiar with the Sheetz brand since there are around 60 of them in the Mountain State. The “All Again” singer didn’t hesitate to throw his name into the Sheetz concert hat, and said he’d happily host his patented high-energy show at a Sheetz location:
Imagine seeing CWG in a gas station parking lot. That’s something you tell your grandkids about.
Moving right along, country singer-songwriter Colby Acuff – a self proclaimed “gas station dude” – was also all about the opportunity to put on a concert in a Sheetz parking lot. Apparently he just needed to hear the words “parking lot” and “concert” together to commit to a Sheetz show:
Still want to know what “gas station dude” means.
Then you have uberly talented musician Philip Bowen. He can play the fiddle like no other, and he insisted that he’d be perfect for a Sheetz concert. In fact… he shared that he and Ian Munsick have already been a part of one, and he’d love nothing more than to be able to run it back.
You read that right… there used to be something called “Sheetz Truck Bed Sessions.”
It appears that it was short lived, with only three “Truck Bed Sessions” in existence… as far as I can tell. The first featured Ian Munsick and Philip Bowen, the second had the rocking country Brent Cobb take center stage, and the third was the incredibly underrated band Southall.
Looks to me like Sheetz already has this year’s “Sheetz Truck Bed Sessionz” lined up: Charles Wesley Godwin, Colby Acuff and Phillip Bowen – potentially with Ian Munsick. I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for a hypothetical (for now) gas station concert series in my entire life.
MAKE IT HAPPEN SHEETZ.
