ItIt doesn’t matter whether you enjoy them for not, at the end of the day there’s just no way to deny the popularity of kawaiicore band Babymetal. Their latest album Metal Forth recently dropped and according to their sales numbers, it sold well enough to get the #9 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

This marks the first time the band’s ever had one of their records reach the top 10 mark in the U.S. and that makes Babymetal the first all-Japanese band to ever make the Billboard 200. According to the band, it got there by achieving more than 200 million global streams and selling roughly 36,000 copies in the album’s first week.

To put that into contrast, 2019’s Metal Galaxy entered the Billboard charts at #13, while the 2023 album The Other One didn’t reach such heights.

Speaking of the success of Metal Forth, Babymetal said they were excited to see their efforts rewarded to heavily here in the States.

“Thank you so much for your support on our new album Metal Forth around the world! We hope you enjoy it! Our music & career are evolving globally, and we are moving forward with ‘Beyond Heavy Metal.’ Our journey continues, and we can’t wait to see you at BABYMETAL shows in your city and your country.”

Around the world, the album did just as well, if not better. Over in Japan, Metal Forth landed at #3 on the overall Oricon, #7 in Germany, and #17 on the U.K. charts.
