Anciients Release Full-Band Playthrough of “Is It Your God”

Ahead of their first run of U.S. tour dates in eight years, exemplary Canadian progressive metal band Anciients released a damn cool video of the band playing through their song “Is It Your God”.

Released earlier today, the video showcases the entire band just ripping through the track off their most recent album Beyond The Reach Of The Sun, which I’m sure you’ll remember landed them a JUNO Award. The intricacies that go into playing the track, especially for guitarist/vocalist Kenny Cook, is absolutely mind-blowing to a talentless blowhard like yours truly. That shit just looks like magic.

Speaking of the track, Cook said it’s all about the natural inclination for man to ask about the idea of god when life keeps hitting you with shitty curveball after shitty curveball.

“This song asks how someone can believe in a higher power when given a life full of despair and anguish. Do you continue to restrict your happiness while living this life, in hopes of joy for eternity? Or do you question whether it’s all for nothing?”
