Guess the cat’s out of the bag.
Last year, Zac Brown sat down with Theo Von for an episode of his This Past Weekend podcast, where he revealed that the Zac Brown Band was working on a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere:
“That’s the greatest canvas that has ever been created, so far. And to get to be one of the first bands to go in there and do it…this is our masterpiece, man.”
Zac Brown said at the time (which was over a year ago now) that he had been working with a team for over a year, which is the longest time he has spent putting a show together:
“It’s going to be the biggest spectacle we have ever done. I am very excited because this puts us in another league. And the goal is for our band to just keep going, man, and be like The Rolling Stones or the Grateful Dead…yeah, Jimmy Buffett. Be in that legacy act thing. This is really our first thing that I am putting a year plus work into for making one show.”
But it’s been over a year now with no real updates on the Sphere residency. Many were expecting Zac Brown Band to be the first country residency at the Sphere, but Kenny Chesney ended up beating him to it when he kicked off his residency in Vegas last week.
Fans were even beginning to wonder whether the Sphere residency was still happening – but thanks to a conversation that Zac may not have realized was being livestreamed, it looks like we have our answer.
Last night, Zac attended the American Music Awards, debuting his new relationship with jewelry designer Kendra Scott. And while he was mingling in the crowd, he introduced himself to popular livestreamer Kai Cenat.
Cenat was on hand to present during the AMAs, and of course he livestreamed the experience on his Twitch channel.
Well one portion that was captured on stream was Brown introducing himself to the streamer, who at first had no idea who he was. But Zac also revealed his upcoming plans:
“We’re doing a residency at the Sphere. End of the year.”
Zac gave the streamer his number, and briefly whispered something into Cenat’s ear. After their conversation, Cenat even acknowledged that they might have just inadvertently leaked some information – but he then had to look up just who Zac Brown was, immediately realizing who Zac was after pulling up “Chicken Fried.”
Cenat did a double take after realizing who he had just talked to:
“That’s HIM?”
Yeah, figured he would recognize that one.
Of course the dates for the Sphere residency haven’t been announced yet, but it sounds like everything is still on schedule and fans can expect an announcement pretty soon for the shows at the end of 2025.
Just goes to show you gotta be careful what you say in public these days. You never know how many cameras and microphones are around – especially when you’re talking to one of the most popular streamers in the world. The post Zac Brown (Inadvertently) Reveals That His Residency At The Las Vegas Sphere Is Coming At The End Of This Year first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
