Burglars Steal $30,000 From North Carolina Home Of Greg Biffle After He Was Killed In Fatal Plane Crash

This may be the most scumbag move I’ve ever heard of.
Thieves broke into the Mooresville, North Carolina home of Greg Biffle and stole $30,000 in cash last week, less than a month after the NASCAR legend was killed in a tragic plane crash.
According to a police report from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department, the burglary was reported by Cathy Grossu, who was Biffle’s mother-in-law, the mother of his wife Cristina Grossu. The report also lists his niece, Jordyn Biffle Carpenter, as an “involved other.”
The report says there were signs of forced entry, and that $30,000 in cash and a backpack were taken from the home. And according to WBTV, guns and NASCAR memorabilia were also reportedly being investigated as missing from the home, with the sheriff’s office reporting that they’re working with race teams in the area to attempt to locate missing property and determine whether or not it was stolen.
In a statement, the sheriff’s office said that the investigation is ongoing:
“Currently, no arrest has been made. Investigators are continuing to review all evidence, including digital and other available information, as the case remains under investigation.”
Absolute scumbag move.
Greg and his wife Cristina were two of the seven people killed on December 18, 2025 when their plane crashed shortly after taking off from Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina.
According to flight tracking data, the private Cessna Citation II took off at around 10:06 AM eastern time, but just minutes later made a turn back towards the airport after the pilot reported an unspecified problem. The plane crashed while attempting to land on the same runway they had taken off from.
So far, no cause has been determined for the crash, with the NTSB investigating and expected to release a preliminary report within 30 days. The final report, with their findings and recommendations, will take between 12-18 months.
Along with Greg Biffle, the victims included his wife, Cristina Grossu; their 5-year old son Ryder; his 14-year old daughter from a previous marriage, Emma; Dennis Dutton and his son, Jack; and Craig Wadsworth. At this point it hasn’t been announced who was flying the plane, as three passengers onboard (including Biffle) were licensed pilots.
A public memorial service for the victims of the plane crash has been scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2026 at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina, but a private funeral service was held recently for Emma Biffle, where her mother Nicole Lunders Biffle shared a heartbreaking letter that she wrote for her daughter.
In a letter that Nicole couldn’t read herself because of the pain of losing her daughter, she admitted that she agonized over the decision of whether to let Emma get on the plane that day, because she knew her daughter wasn’t feeling well. And she also revealed that the day before the crash, she had bought Emma tickets to Italy as a Christmas present.
I can’t even imagine. And it’s disgusting to think that there are people out there trying to take advantage of a grieving family as they’re dealing with such an unbelievable tragedy. The post Burglars Steal $30,000 From North Carolina Home Of Greg Biffle After He Was Killed In Fatal Plane Crash first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
