You can’t ever make everyone happy… especially if you sing a duet with Zach Bryan.

Willow Avalon joined the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast recently to talk about growing up in Georgia and moving to California (and eventually New York City), pursuing music at the young age of 15 , honing her skills as a songwriter and some of her musical inspirations, her debut album Southern Belle Raisin’ Hell, her plans for future music and much more.

Something that also came up – and I’m not sure how it couldn’t have – was Willow Avalon’s performance with Zach Bryan at Stagecoach earlier this year. The country music star brought out Willow to help him sing the female duet part of “I Remember Everything,” which was done by Kacey Musgraves in the studio recording.

If you missed on Avalon laying down her signature vocals during the live performance, you can check it out below:

Pretty great, eh?

Even though it was an beautiful performance, the internet decided to make things ugly. Hard to imagine that, right? The internet sucking the joy out of something cool? Because of all of the drama with Zach Bryan and his high-profile ex-girlfriend Brianna Chickenfry, any female artists that now associate themselves with the “Pink Skies” singer inadvertently step into a storm of social media criticism.

All kind of accusatory messages and attacks were sent Willow’s way after she performed with Zach Bryan, and all she could do was feel bad for those online that were calling her out over… really nothing at all:

“People on the internet… it hurts my heart for them. Go outside and touch grass, have a beautiful life. You are here, you are living it. Don’t live in this negativity. Especially towards people that you do not know…

The Zach Bryan stuff has been brought into it. But the thing with me is like I don’t know him as a partner. He has only been kind to me, and I love his music.”

And what rising artist would pass up the opportunity to sing with one of country music’s biggest names in front of a Stagecoach crowd of 100,000 people?

Since Willow Avalon was touring with Zach Bryan, it made perfect sense that she would come out and help sing “I Remember Everything.” What doesn’t make perfect sense is all of the backlash and phony rumors that were spread after the fact, as she explained:

“We’re very grateful to be on tour with him and to be able to play those shows. Stagecoach was crazy, and like I said, he’s only ever been kind. And my team and his team have been friends for a long time.

I’m just basing things off of… like I said, the internet is a really intense place. You never know what’s true. Anyone that’s talking about me, 99% of it is not true. I’m just going to give people the same grace that I would like to be given to me.”
