Viral AI Video Ridiculously Claims That Caitlin Clark Is Engaged To…Barron Trump?

Now, I know that I shouldn’t have to say this but: You can’t believe everything you see on the internet. Especially these days with the rise of AI and the ease of spreading misinformation, pretty much everything has to be taken with a massive grain of salt. Photos and videos are easily manipulated, or outright fabricated, and even AI “fact checkers” are often full of false information.

We see all kinds of these rumors going around, some that are rooted in truth and some that are flat out ridiculous. And I’m going to categorize this one as “flat out ridiculous.”

A viral video going around on social media is claiming that WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark is secretly engaged.

Of course that’s not completely out of the realm of possibility. The Indiana Fever star has been dating former Iowa Hawkeye basketball player Connor McCaffrey since 2023, after the two met in college. And just a few weeks ago, Clark called McCaffrey her “favorite person” in a birthday post to her boyfriend.

But the video currently going viral claims that Clark is secretly engaged – but not to her boyfriend. Instead, the clearly-AI generated video claims that the basketball superstar is in a relationship with Barron Trump, the 19-year old son of President Donald Trump.

The video cites “three clues” to their relationship, then goes on to claim that it was Clark who made the first move on Trump when the two met at a veterans event that they attended together. The video also says that Barron recently transferred one of his $8.5 million homes into a mystery trust called “B&T,” which the video claims stands for…Barron and Caitlin. Not sure where the “T” comes from…

The ridiculous video also claims that Clark was recently spotted wearing a “B&T” necklace, and that the logo was designed by First Lady Melania Trump.

Now, there’s absolutely no evidence that Barron and Caitlin are dating, or even know each other. The bizarre rumor couldn’t be more ridiculous. But there still appear to be people who believe the rumor on social media, or who are at least questioning whether it’s true (when it’s clearly not).

Of course Barron, who is a freshman at NYU, may have a new romantic interest in his life – though it’s not Caitlin Clark.

A new report from NewsNation claims that Barron does indeed have a girlfriend at college, who he spends quite a bit of time with, and that he’s not interested in the spotlight like his president father. The youngest of the Trump children is also reportedly pretty “apolitical,” unlike most of his family.

Barron did appear during the Republican National Convention, as well as during his father’s second presidential inauguration back in January. And President Trump has also credited Barron with advising him to appear on popular podcasts, and even suggesting which podcasts he should go on, during his 2024 campaign.

But for the most part, Barron seems to be content staying out of the headlines – and dating Caitlin Clark would definitely make headlines, if it were in any way true…which it’s definitely not.
