Travis Kelce is all the rage right now among Swifties for securing Taylor Swift as a podcast host. The New Heights hosts, Jason and Travis Kelce, are sitting down to talk with Taylor Swift on tomorrow’s episode, but they’ve already blown up the internet with a few clips teasing what’s in store.
In a sweet behind-the-scenes footage before the episode officially starts, Swifties are gushing over the tender interaction between the Kansas City Chiefs player and his superstar girlfriend.
But that was just the start of the madness because on the following teaser clip, Taylor Swift announces her next studio record, The Life Of A Showgirl. Did I ever think we’d see a day where Taylor Swift announced an album on a podcast? Hell no. But love makes you do crazy things, and for as long as fans have been begging her to be on the podcast, she had to show up and show out.
While T-Swift’s album announcement is breaking the internet in general, over on Twitter, users are crashing out over Travis Kelce’s GQ Magazine photoshoot.
Today, August 12th, an article featuring an interview with Kelce went live, discussing topics ranging from the upcoming NFL season to his post-retirement aspirations and, of course, what life with Taylor Swift is like. The interview itself was a stellar read, like most pieces from GQ, with Kelce sharing some glowing words about his lady and her athleticism, noting how impressive it is that she performs for three hours each night when she takes the stage.
“She may not think of herself as an athlete. She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete. But I’ve seen what she goes through. I’ve seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it’s mind-blowing. … That is arguably more exhausting than how much I put in on a Sunday, and she’s doing it three, four, five days in a row.”
As you scroll through the words penned from the interview, the readers are met with images of Kelce in various outfits and settings. And I must admit that they are… a choice. The creative director of this shoot was really expressing their creativity, having Kelce stand in a marsh while holding an oversized Hermes Birkin bag. Or in a swamp, wearing an oversized fur hat, holding an alligator.
It’s pretty different from the imagery we saw in GQ’s interview with Tyler Childers, which aligned with this release of Snipe Hunter.
While some of the images are funky and I like them, there is one image that is sending X (or Twitter, if you prefer) into a spiral. One photo shows Kelce emerging from the ocean, baring his hairy chest for the camera while wearing a construction vest. It’s giving Aquaman meets blue-collar boys.
Given the other images featured in this article, I think this is pretty tame, but Twitter took it upon itself to roast Travis Kelce.
The comments are hilarious, but it’s not like Travis Kelce came up with this idea on his own, so cut the man some slack. He’s just following the direction of the creative director and photographer.
