Finally… an area dedicated to men at the mall.

Though a shopping trip isn’t always the worst thing, they often fall on the weekend. You know what else is on Saturdays and Sundays? Sports, and typically lots of them. That can often cause some tension between husbands and wives, and boyfriends and girlfriends.

Choosing to stay at home and watch sports can be a death sentence. But on the other hand, opting to go along and shop means missing out on exciting sports moments (even with the ability to watch games on mobile devices in the modern day). If only there was a way to make both sides happy, you know?

This Dallas-area shopping mall finally figured it out.

The NorthPark Mall is currently going viral because they recognized that very problem and offered up a beautiful solution. The mall’s Nordstrom store set up TVs, chairs and allegedly provided drinks to guys that were walking around the mall with their significant others.

And it was like moths to a flame:

Just guys being dudes.

Another post by Fox 4 News highlighted the set up, and coined the whole thing a “Husband Daycare,” which is actually pretty funny. Mainly because that’s exactly what it is. Just as a daycare is designed to keep kiddos in one place (and busy), this makeshift sports bar in the Nordstrom provided a space for the fellas to hang out while the wives and girlfriends got their shopping done.

It looks like they had it all set up ahead of Christmas too, which was undoubtedly a great call.

The best thing about it? Not only did the men have a good time, the wives and girlfriends knew exactly where they were going to be. No “Where are you?” phone call or text message was needed. The women likely just went right back to where they left their husbands once they were done.

“NorthPark Mall just invented the ultimate ‘Husband Daycare.’ Nordstrom has set up a lounge with TV’s, drinks and comfy chairs so the guys can stay busy while the shopping is underway.”

It truly looks like a wonderful way to kill some time.

Though I will say… I don’t think NorthPark Mall invented the idea of the “Husband Daycare.” Based upon my research (which is just being a fan of the TV show Nathan For You), comedian Nathan Fielder actually came up with it back in 2015. In the series that brought establishments unorthodox business advice, Fielder suggested that women’s clothing stores have dedicated “Man Zones” to keep significant others busy… thus giving more time for the women to shop.

I’ve got a feeling that someone at the Nordstrom at the NorthPark Mall saw this episode:

“Nathan For You – Man Zone”

P.S. – I say “You know what I feel like? A mother-effing beer’ at least twice a week thanks to that clip from Nathan For You.The post Dallas-Area Shopping Mall Goes Viral For Setting Up “Husband Daycare” Fit With Chairs, Drinks & TVs first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
