Trace Cyrus woke up today and chose to tear into his country music singing father.
Why? That’s the million dollar question. From what we could tell, Billy Ray Cyrus has gotten his life together lately (he’s dating Elizabeth Hurley) after his disastrous performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. I mention that only because that’s the last time we heard from Trace Cyrus in regards to his father.
After the trainwreck of a performance, Trace wrote an open letter asking for the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer to seek help… it was a whole thing.
And for those who don’t know, Trace is actually the son of Billy Ray’s ex-wife Tish Cyrus. As a young child, he apparently used to look up to Billy Ray Cyrus. But since his mother and Billy Ray Cyrus separated, and as he’s gotten older, that luster has seemed to wear off.
Prior to today’s post, much of Trace’s criticism of his father was coming from a place of love, and wanting Billy Ray Cyrus to get help. The same can’t be said for the most recent Instagram post from the 36-year-old. Trace ripped into his father, saying:
“This man is so hungry for fame, it’s pathetic. He really flew to Italy for a fashion show but wouldn’t come to LA for Mammie’s funeral while he was still married to my mom. Even after his daughter got him a 60K private jet like he demanded, he still didn’t come even after the plane was paid for.”
Trace is likely referring to this fashion show, where Billy Ray and Elizabeth Hurley went red carpet official with their relationship:
It might also be helpful to know that Trish’s mother (Trace’s Mammie) passed away in 2020. Billy Ray and Trish went on to divorce in 2022.
After setting the table with that first bit of his rant, Trace stopped holding his verbal punches and told the world how he really felt about Billy Ray:
“You’re the lamest man to ever walk planet Earth. Honestly embarrassed to ever have considered you my idol. The best thing to come from your downfall is it made me go into beast mode. I refuse to be a washed up, delusional, evil person when I’m old like you. Christ is King. Get right with God. You need it.”
That clown emoji is ruthless.
But somehow not as ruthless as the extra jab Trace Cyrus worked in through his Instagram story. Adding to his rant against his father, he chose to attack the 90s country star’s personal appearance:
“Also, why does he think that homeless hairstyle looks good? So weird.”
That one’s gotta hurt Billy Ray Cyrus the most.
Interestingly enough, Trace Cyrus turned off the comments on his post that’s primary objective was to put his father on blast. Apparently before the comment section was turned off, one person replied saying that the message “seemed like a cry for help,” and that Trace was sending out the post because he “desperately needed attention from his father.” Trace quickly shot that down, and later shared his response to his Instagram story:
“I’m past the point of even caring if I ever speak to him again. I’ve surpassed him in every metric as a man on this planet. There’s nothing left to learn from him except from his mistakes. I had hope at one point, but I’m convinced he’s finally a lost cause.
I’ll continue to thrive and, as the oldest son of the family, the Cyrus last name will continue through me and my many children I plan to have. I will raise them the right way and be a part of their life no matter what the circumstances are.”
Sheesh… guess we shouldn’t hold our breath waiting for a Father’s Day post this next weekend from Trace. The post Trace Cyrus Rips His “Pathetic” Father, Billy Ray Cyrus, In New Instagram Post: “Washed Up, Delusional, Evil Person” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
