The official Landman Season 2 trailer is finally here.
The second season of Landman is set to release on November 16 – almost exactly a year after the show’s first season (it aired on November 17, 2024). That means that we’re just a couple of months away from seeing the star-studded cast of Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Sam Elliott, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, and Michelle Randolph – among others – return to our television screens.
That’s a beautiful thing if you ask me.
Fans of the show can only hope that Landman‘s second season delivers as many memorable moments as the first. It seemed like every week, another clip from the show was going viral online. And I imagine that the addition of actors Andy Garcia (who will play a cartel boss) and Sam Elliott (who will play Tommy Norris’ father) can only help elevate the hit series to the next level… and raise the stakes even higher.
The second season’s official synopsis implies that a boiling point will be reached one way or another as Thornton’s crisis executive and “fixer” Tommy Norris will certainly be forced to put out some fires:
“As oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy Norris’s (Thornton) breaking point may be closer than he realizes. Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn’t noble – it’s brutal. And sooner or later something’s got to break.”
SAY LESS!
In the trailer below, tensions look to be on the rise for Landman’s main characters, and the story appears to pick up right where it left off. There’s plenty of action and borderline disaster showcased in the trailer for the season that Billy Bob has described in previous interviews as a “slow burn.” To be frank, nothing looks slow about the official trailer, but the other portion of Thornton’s quote sure does match up with what the official trailer presents.
Here’s his quote to Entertainment Weekly:
“Now that the audience knows all the characters, Taylor was able to really dive into the relationships more. Last season, we had to explain what this business was all about and who the people are.
This season, he was able to really focus in the first few episodes on the family dynamic and the business dynamic. But this one really ramps up as it goes on, and there’s more and more intensity.”
And I find it hard to believe that Landman Season 2 will top the show’s inaugural run… but I won’t be surprised if it does.
The first season set the expectations very high for the rest of the series, but if we know anything about Taylor Sheridan, he’ll undoubtedly continue to deliver at an impressive level. And like I said earlier, the additions of Elliot and Garcia to the cast in the show’s sophomore run will certainly help Landman Season 2 and expand on the gravitas of the Texas oil industry saga. I mean… how could adding two Oscar nominees hurt anything?
