SoundCloud’s New Limited-Edition Merch Taps Into Y2K Internet Culture and Glitch Aesthetics

SoundCloud has launched CloudWear: Deep Cuts, a limited-edition merch line melding visual elements from turn-of-the-century internet culture and electronic music history.

Drawing from glitch art and bloghouse nostalgia, the new collection’s aesthetic is rooted in what SoundCloud called “the poetic distortion of online life.” Its standout pieces lean heavily into Y2K aesthetics and digital culture references that’ll resonate with anyone who’s spent late nights diving into rabbit holes and discovering DJ weapons on SoundCloud.

The “Lo-Fi Tee” channels beat-making culture with graphics that feel authentically retro-futuristic while the “Chop + Screw Tee” pays homage to Houston’s storied remix scene and slab car culture, a surprisingly specific and appreciated nod.

Other highlights include the “Berlin Techno Long Sleeve” reflecting SoundCloud’s German roots and after-hours rave culture, and the minimalistic “Light Ambient Crew” that transforms sound waves into visual design. The hat lineup spans electronic subgenres from the “Synthpop Snapback” to the “DnB Panel Hat.”
