Sorry Ladies… The Super Bowl In 2027 Will Fall On Valentine’s Day

Now, I’m not trying to get ahead of myself here, but during last night’s Monday Night Football broadcast, ESPN’s Joe Buck and Troy Aikman dropped some hard-to-swallow news about the Super Bowl a year and some change in advance. This year’s Super Bowl will be played on February 8, 2026. The year after that?
The Super Bowl is set to fall on Valentine’s Day (February 14) of 2027.
That’s a blessing and a curse… allow for me to explain. The Super Bowl being played that late is a result of both a) the NFL adding an additional week to the regular season in 2021 and b) the fact that the “Big Game” is always played on the second Sunday of February.
In 2027, that second Sunday just so happens to fall on the most (and forced) romantic day of the year, where couples are expected to go out to eat, or go on a trip to celebrate their love. Football fans are truly on a crash course for disaster, and Super Bowl parties might have to be dual purpose and throw some Valentine’s Day flare in.
The only silver lining is the day after being President’s Day, which is a federal holiday in the United States. People that have been clamoring for the day after the Super Bowl to be a national holiday finally get what they wanted… but it looks like it’ll come with a cost in 2027.
ESPN’s broadcast brought up the date for Super Bowl LXI during the Eagles-Chargers game last night, and as Troy Aikman and Joe Buck joked about being each other’s dates for the game, most of America was silently freaking out as they tried to think of some way to work around the two big events falling on the same night:
Start brainstorming right now fellas… it’s gonna take a lot of creativity to figure this one out.
If you want my advice, just go ahead and plan to eat your Valentine’s Day dinner in 2027 on another night. Myself and my wife actually do that already, and it makes it to where you don’t have to fight the crowds for a table. That being said, this really does seem like a disaster for all the restaurants out there, because the romantic holiday is without a doubt one of their biggest dine-in nights of the year.
In 2027, all of the couples are going to be at Super Bowl parties instead (let’s just go ahead and start speaking it into existence), and football fans are already worried about it… even though the complicated situation is over a year away:
Evil work by the NFL to finally make Super Bowl Sunday the day before Presidents’ Day, only to have that Sunday also be Valentine’s Day.

A Valentine’s Day Super Bowl? Sounds like an uptick in divorce rate.

I mean, if we’re thinking about moving it to Saturday, this would be the year to do it… right? The post Sorry Ladies… The Super Bowl In 2027 Will Fall On Valentine’s Day first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
