In a new report over at Billboard, it’s looking like the dudes in Slipknot are about to be richer, as they’re apparently either getting close to or have already sold their publishing and recorded masters for roughly $120 million. That’s a lotta jumpsuits.

It’s unclear whether the deal has been finalized or if it’s still in the early stages, but initial reports suggest the deal will be made with HarbourView Equity Partners. You may have heard that name before, on the count of them being one of the most prolific buyers of music and entertainment rights out there on the market today.

According to the Billboard report, Slipknot currently own the publishing rights for their music but Warner Music Group holds the rights to their master recordings after it bought Roadrunner Records back in 2007. As a result, only the band’s royalty income from said masters was on the table. It’s also being reported that not everyone in the band is on board with these sale plans. As a result, the final estimate of how much income will be included in the final for HerbourView is still very much up in the air.

Considering how Slipknot’s discography makes up 14.6 million album consumption units in the U.S., resulting in a whopping 6.8 billion streams at home. Internationally, those numbers jump to 15.73 billion streams, which is a ridiculous amount of listens and is likely worth a good amount of cash.

As for new music, Slipknot’s Jim Root told Turning Wrenches that he’s been working on new material, though there’s no timeframe as to when or if it will see the light of day.

“Right now I’m looking at six [songs] and I have four more that I’m working on. And I’d like to have 20 or 25 before we actually start doing pre-production and rewriting and rearranging and Corey putting lyrics on everything. So, no tours coming up. It’s probably gonna be a while before we do another U.S. run or a European run.”
